1995 Laredo Question
Hi all. Just bought a 1995 GC Laredo from my dad. He just put a new transmission and a new radiator in it. Only problem it has now is that the A/C will run through the defrost vents then switch and will flow through the regular A/C vents. I have also noticed that there is a little bit of water that forms on the floor board on the passenger side.
Other than this, it runs great with 210,000 miles on original motor.
What could it be and what am I looking at cost wise??

Does the AC switch on its own?
As for the leak, my XJ has the same exact problem. I have tried to look for it before but I just gave up. Unless its a very large leak just get some good floor mats and call it a day.

As for the leak it sounds like the drain for the condensation is stopped up. Not sure of the best way to unclog...on a previous vehicle I had I found where it came out on the passenger side and ran a wire up in it to get it unclgged. On the A/C thru the defrost... Maybe you have a vaccum leak on the heat/ a/c control and it takes a second for it build up a vaccum and reset the flaps in the ducts.

I will bet that it switches when you are accelerating hard?? Sounds like a vacuum leak.
Two possible causes of water on your floor. The condensation drain is clogged up.
Or that little drain in the corner of cowl is plugged up.

OK...I have a 98 Cherokee Sport. I had the padding under the carpet get completely soaked up front. Can someone tell me where to find these drains? I had the carpet out for a couple of weeks to dry it out. Since it is cold I am running the heat and don't have the problem, so I assume it is coming from the A/C. Thanks

Typically these are on the underside of the EVAP box. They will be about the size of a dime and run on the engine side of the firewall. The best way to unclog them is to take some wire coat hanger to it. Then take your compressed air to the pass. side vent and shoot it toward the floor. That should clean it out. I would recommend you to get a spray bottle of bleach and spray it through the aforesaid hole to kill the mold that has probably formed inside your EVAP.
