1993 Laredo that is posessed
(new to this)
I have a 1993 4.0, when I go to start it, it usually fires and dies then I crank it again and it sometimes starts right up. Other times it cranks and cranks and eventually fires. Seems to start best when I crank it, stop, crank it, stop, etc. Starts best when it has set a while too. I'm getting tired of being asked if I need a ride......Well when it actually starts sometimes it has no power on take off till it hits 2500 RPM's or so, other times it takes off just fine. I have replaced EVERYTHING(ECU, Coil, Distributor, Plugs, Wires, CPS, Cap and Rotor, Fuel Pump and Filter). It has 246,000 miles on the original motor but, it uses very little oil between changes. Anyone have any ideas? Would higher end plugs help? Craziest thing is when I stop turning the key forward sometimes thats when it fires up.

You may have a failing ignition switch. Listen to see if you hear your fuel pump when you turn the ignition on. It should run for a few seconds then stop.
You may have to do some electrical testing to see if the switch is the problem.

Check your engine codes. Even if your check engine light isn't on.
Check your fuel pressure at the rail and check function of your fuel injectors.
You may have an injector that is sticking open.
Checking to see if your exhaust is clogged is also something to keep on the list. Does it sound anemic? I.E. no... err... kahonas when you rev it?
If all that is good get some compression readings. Low compression can make an engine very cold blooded (hard starting and no power when cold)
