1993 Grand Cherokee 4.0L ZJ, Still high NOx, no egr?
Okay, I'm at my wits end trying to solve this high NOx problem. I have replaced the cat that I had previously had installed. The previous one was not reducing more than 35-40% of the exhaust gases. I have replaced all plugs and wires and seafoamed the engine via both the intake and the gas tank.
My next move is to replace both O2 sensors in the morning. If THAT doesn't work, I may have to scrp the vehicle as it cannot pass smog here in California.
Now, my (limited) understanding of the EGR vale/system is to use the exhaust gas to limit the amount of air into the air/fuel mixture; reducing engine temperature and thus reducing NOx. From what I can tell, the 1993 Gand Cherokee 4.0L (V6) does not have and EGR valve. If this is correct, then how in the hell can the vehicle control NOx exhaust gases?
