12.1amp parasitic drain on jeep wj 4.7l v8
 

I've gotta parasitic drain in my jeep wj limited 4.7l v8 non h/o it draws 12.1amps I checked all my fuses non of those are it but when i disconnect the whole fuse box underneath of my hood it it goes back to the normal drainage if .01 i checked the wiring under the fuse box it's all good so what can it be?

How and where are you measuring the amps being drawn? Try disconnecting the big red wire from the back of the alternator see if that drops it.

Holy Donut Holes, Batman! 12.1 amps is a lot! Try disconnecting the radio fuses. Maybe your amp is still on. A halogen headlight bulb only draws 4 amps! I don't think an alternator field winding would pull THAT much. I can only think of a couple of things that require that much power, like a window motor or a seized electric fan. How about the rear window defogger?

12 amps is a crap load of current for a parasitic draw. That's like a fuel pump with a large load or both headlights on highbeam. You're going to have to start shooting wires to see where it's all going.

I don't know if this will help you or not but I had a similar problem a few years back with my 2003 Jeep GC. The battery would go down overnight and nothing I did would help. New batteries, new ECM, new everything, just about.
For over a year I just kept the charger on it and didn't drive it much anyway. Spent days drinking beer with my friends testing ever wire, fuse box and fuse in that Jeep and nothing.
One day went to start it and would only click. Mechanic confirmed starter was bad. Installed new starter and have never had a problem with the battery going down again.
So apparently the STARTER had some kind of short in it? I don't even know how that is possible or is it?

My starter is good, alternator is good and battery is good. I took out the whole fuse compartment under the drivers side dash including the bcm and ecm yet it all still stayed the same. I'm only having power drainage from my fuse box under the hood I just dont know what to do anymore I even checked the trailer harness that's good and even the rear window motor wiper cause that can be bad sometimes I disconnected the amp and radio those arent it I've tried soo many things and I checked all my grounds at least all the ones I can find and they are all good.

You didn't answer my question, how are you measuring the draw? Also, if youre only having drainage from the fuse box under the hood, you should be able to unplug things one by one to isolate it. ?

I unplugged every fuse in that fuse box including relays and nothing fixed it and I measured it by taking off the negative terminal and with my multi meter put the negative side on the negative side of the battery and positive side on the negative terminal and it comes to a draw of 12.3 the amp draw only drops when I disconnect the fuse box from getting any power from the battery

What is the make and model of that multimeter? Because the ones I know of only measure to 10 amps and then the 10A internal fuse blows. That's why they say 10A MAX on the front.

True-rms clamp meter and I've used two other multi meters also that have read the same reading of 12.3 amps I had everything right and i know it I've watched 10+ videos on parasitic drains trying to figure this issue out and they all did the same process

Oh sorry. When I askewd how you measured it you said:

Which would not be possible as they only measure up to 10 amps.

I marked all the fuses that are drawing power when the car is off with electrical tape
