08 Jeep Amplifier
My Amp blew in my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I tried to replace it and bought a 08-10' Jeep Patriot Amp and I thought they were adaptable.
There are 3 Bar Codes listed on my 08' Jeep Amp: (P) 05064353AP (V) 29961 AE (T) DA290549D0107 As I looked at everything prior to purchasing the Patriot Amplifier, it appears the middle (V) code was the correct match listed at 29961 AE. Needless to say, it does not work. Could it be bad? Does anyone know what these codes mean and how to ensure that I have a correct match for my Jeep Cherokee? Thanks |
The Patriots have a subwoofer and flip-down tailgate speakers and use the 368-watt Boston Acoustics amp. The Grand Cherokees do NOT have a subwoofer and use the 276-watt Boston Acoustics amp.
The difference is that the amp for the Patriot has a distinct channel for the factory subwoofer, and the Grand Cherokee doesn't have a subwoofer, so its amp does NOT have that channel. If I were you I'd take the part # off of the old amp and match it up with an amp with that part #. An amp out of any 2005-2010 Grand Cherokee with the Boston Acoustics system should work in your Grand Cherokee. The 2007+ models have a 'Boston Acoustics' emblem on both of the front door speaker grilles so you can tell which ones have that option, but in order to tell which 2005-2006 models have that option, you'll need to pull the panel in the rear cargo area where the amp lives. If it's not there, that Jeep doesn't have that option. |
