06' Grand Cherokee 2wd - Popping noise, front left side
I have an 06 Grand cherokee 2 wheel drive, When I make slow left hand turns(like into a parking spot) or go from turning the wheel all the way right back to left (as if you were pulling out the drive way) there is a pop, It only does it one time from the left side.... it sometimes will pop when braking & pulling into my driveway when I hit the edge where the cement is raised. Could this be the strut? I only have around 40k miles. Any suggestions??

That system is new to me.http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_suspension.htm
Unless the ball joints need grease, or something is damaged, I'm not sure what is causing the popping. I'm sure someone here has experience on this vehicle.

ball joints are only found on straight axles..I'm not familiar with IFS or rack and pinion either but it does incorporate CV axles which will definitely "pop" under those circumstances if bad. Look under and see if there are any damaged boots.

never heard of a control/torsion arm as a balljoint, they utilize bushings or in some cases johnny/heim joints but technically, yes, any ball and socket type joint can be referred to as a balljoint. When i hear of a balljoint, suspension wise, i think of this(see pic) so i guess IFS also will have a similar type of balljoint at the wheel as well, like i said i'm not IFS savy

This is what the '06 Grand Cherokee's front suspension looks like. Not a very good pic, but you can tell it has ball joints.
And as for the original question, "Why's it popping?" I give up unless it's the BJ's.

I know, but it's the same suspension, and I couldn't find a 2WD pic. Besides, the pic was just for reference to show that your lower control arms (A-frames) had ball joints. Get a camera and take a pic of your set-up and we'll see if we can find Your problem.

To Check Upper Ball Joint: While watching the ball joint at the top of the steering knuckle for play, push(towards center of Jeep) and pull on tire. Any noticeable movement means joint needs replacement.
To Check Lower Ball Joint:Raise vehicle until tire is off ground. While watching ball joint at bottom of steering knuckle for play, have an assistant using a pry bar under tire lift tire slightly then release, repeat. A slight amount of wear is permitted. However, if movement is noticeable replacement is recommended.
If those checks find nothing, check the sway-bar end link bushings, and the lower strut bushings.
