Ok so this project dates back to when i first got it, right after I turned 16 for my first car. After much research and web surfing i decided Cherokee was the best bang for the buck and cheapest to toy with. I like to think i GOT A STEAL. I ended up buying a baby. Only 48k on it, it was a limited 2000 with EVERY Option except skid plates and a trailer hitch.:D Which is funny because it had a Tow package. So down to buisness, why could i pay only 6,300 out the door? needed a new from right speaker, had a bad parking ding and a leaky radiator over flow.

So as you will notice i'm not very good at takeing pictures during a project. I also just realized i have no pictures of my jeep before my lift so here it goes.

3" lift with stock tires, i like it muddy. I also added some offroad lights and 2 tow hooks:guns:Attachment 16762

I was very proud of my jeep. payed for by me and i was having fun with it. I'm sure yall noticed the funny looking stuff infront of the rad. but i will be getting to that.

I know i have nice leather but landscapeing and mudding were gonna take a toll on the nice leather so i decided to get some seat covers.:D

I couldn't find one for the back so i left it, cant complain cause it is usually down

After some thought i realized i needed a rear tow point and something to haul my dirtbike around with so trailer hitch here i come. It was honestly the most frusturating i had done so far:furious:. universal trailer hitches = no no. but im young so i get a stupid moment occasionally.

Now with my new found confidence i decided to tackle yet another agrivating task. The dixie horn. i should have taken pictures of this build but i didnt. took me 3 days, a lot of :cursing: but i got it done. i mounted it behind the grill. I ended up sanding them and spraying them black to hide them and they were bright red and looked rediculous.

As time went by i decided i needed to do more and wanted to be able to handle more offroad and look bad a$$. so i went out and bought some 32 m/t's. (yes i know they aren't "32's" but a chart online puts em' about there so thats what i call them)

A month or two rolls by and it's winterrrr. If you live in or around MD, it wasn't a winter to forget. Record setting snow falls. State of emergency, even humves(prolly spelled it wrong) were getting stuck. If you think by now people at my school had respect for my jeep, you were wrong. still a POS to them. Till i was the only 1 driveing and bringing them groceries:D

KTMrider 04-12-2010 01:37 PM

homedepot was the only place i could find any metal. used 1" square tubeing for the most part. 6ft long and 36" wide. on the top i used some right angle metal and drilled holes in it for straps to hold down what ever it is i decide to throw up there. i also bought self taping screws and a lot of L brackets. The self tapers sucked so i drilled a small pilot hole and it worked out great. i will try to post some pics up in not too long of some wheeling i did a couple weeks ago

KTMrider 04-12-2010 01:57 PM

What else do yall think i should do next? i would like to get a bored TB, muffler, skid plates and a diff locker. which would be the best way to go next?

96_xj 04-12-2010 02:13 PM

well now you should ask yourself what do you need next. now that its spring time and the snow is going to be melting is there many rocks and stumps on the trails your ride to warrant skids? do you need the extra power while cruising around town?

personally this is my opinion do your engine work first. bored tb, exhaust and intake.(remember that you engine is a big pump, you cant just put more air into your engine with out a way for it to escape)

then i would do skids: diffs, rockers, tcase, tranny, engine

and lastly lockers (selectable) because i feel you learn how to choose better lines on open diffs.

sweet build:thumbup1::excl:
