Ferg Ferguson

I have a 96 XJ with 289,000 mi. I am looking to rebuild my motor and spiff it up a bit. I am thinking about going .005 over in the bore and shaving the head .002. I believe the higher compression and more volume will give me the punch I am looking for. My plans are to give it a 6 in lift and 35's and working on Axel's and gearing to make the power hit the ground. Any ideas to help would be cool.
