Correct! Tire tools, pry bar, screw drivers... Something of the like.

So, I got out of the Jeep in the Walmart parking lot and heard dripping. Looked down and saw what appeared to be water steady-stream dripping from underneath. My first thought was radiator "Great!", I thought.

So, I popped the hood and THERE SHE BLOWS!!!!

Thankfully, just a lower radiator hose. I was only five minutes (or less) away from home, so I went in to Walmart to get what I needed and drove it home without incident.

Luckily, I had one in decent shape on the parts Jeep. Still need to make it a point to get a new one though.

Thoughts/opinions on the silicone hoses?

So, I went back and forth for a long time about the 97+ swap. I finally just got tired enough of dealing with the crappy assembly of the 92 header/grille/headlight trim rings and got a line on a full front clip and doors (like I mentioned before).

Finally got the time this week to start working on it. I didn't get a whole ton of pictures because good GAWD it's hot outside. But, just like any swap, I started with removing the old crap. Grille/header/fenders/doors.... yes doors too. I went ahead and cut the hinges to allow quick and easy removal. Well... it's quicker than unbolting them every time, that much is certain. As far as "Wrongler quick"? Well... not so much.

PLUS, I had planned on (and still will) using the ZJ plugs for even quicker removal, but I need to figure out how to wire them to the 97+ doors. I got the plugs from 94XJSport94 and he already had them spliced up for the old style doors. Well, I clipped the pigtail off of the passenger side one so rather than re-splicing them twice, I'll just use the 92 harnesses on the old doors for now. I need to get the nutsert for the 97+ striker before I can fully switch the doors over anyway.

BUT, I did get the front clip on. Not wired up, but on at least. I love it. Very glad I did the swap.

Without further ado,

Still have some lining up to do on the passenger side, but it's all pretty satisfactory for the most part.

Couple things that aren't mentioned with the swap.

1) The front portion of the fenders WILL NOT bolt to the front portion of the radiator brace. I'm thinking about maybe adding some custom brackets to adapt them, but they don't directly bolt-on in that manner.

2) The headlight wiring harness for the 97+ is a 12-pin. The 92 is an 5-pin, 8-wire setup. The 96- has a single park/turn signal bulb on either side of the Jeep - below the headlight. The 97+ has dual park/turn signal bulbs on either side of the Jeep - below the headlight. Thus the extra 4 pins. I haven't yet taken the time to splice the new harness into the old. Hopefully tomorrow. Have a lot to do though

Speaking of which, my new MOPAR CPS arrived

Thanks man! Yeah you and Lee are getting rain in your respective parts of Florida, but it's been dry as a bone around here. Seriously, driving down the road there are shrubs with drought burn, and my grass has never looked so bad. It's brown all the way down to the roots. I don't have an irrigation system either, so I'm having to pick and choose which parts of the law to water.

Yeah, this is what I ended up doing.

Wire taps aren't my favorite splicing method, but I really needed to get the lights working so I could start driving it again. My wife needed the car the next day and I was going to need the Jeep. I staggered the taps though so I was still able to get them into the split loom. I had to use a couple different sizes and electrical tape, but it should last for a while until I get the chance to solder, tape, and heat shrink everything properly.

Actually, ya do!

See how the corner markers turn off when the left turn signal is on? Works perfectly!

I meant to get a few shots of everything all lined up and gapped in the daylight, but I didn't get the chance.

Also, since I had the doors off modifying the hinges, I took the time to line up and shim everything so the doors close easily again and look straight once closed. No more BASHING into the striker and having to open it back up and slam it to get it to close right.

Replaced the lower radiator hose with a used one in good condition, and replaced the CPS with a new MOPAR unit... unfortunately, not the change I was hoping for in the way it runs. I noticed a "whistling" under acceleration, so I may be looking at a vacuum leak - so I bought some new vacuum lines and fittings. We'll see how it works.

All wired up and lighting up the world!

Yeah, not veteran enough unfortunately. I was an entry-level separation. My shoulder gave me a problem when I was in boot camp and since it was a pre-existing inury, they weren't responsible for my rehab and as such, it was the end of my military career. RE3P re-up code if I wanted to, but they said that I had to have Doctor's clearance to be able to do it.

Doc said he wouldn't do it without surgery.... to which I said "nuh-uh". Shoulder still gives me a little problem from time to time, but other that than it's been doing just fine without a doctor pokin' around inside there. I know it's coming one day though.
