Update: This is Jeep project is now called "Gumby".
Well guys, I never made a build thread for my 88 Pioneer that I deemed project lost cause, but that jeep is unfortunately going to end its time with me soon. So I named this build as accordingly as I could as I will be turning over a new leaf with my new jeep that I just bought. This is how my 88 looked before I decided its time for a new Jeep: Attachment 372162 The 88 only had the 35's on for the distance home from the local tire shop. Well now onto my new Cherokee! I picked up this new guy for $1500. Here's the stats on it: 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0, AW4, 242, 8.25. That's pretty much all the important info. Besides that its got power windows, locks, mirrors, roof rack, and working AC. All of this stuff being new to me since my 88 wasn't endowed with such options. Here's how I bought it: Attachment 372163 OH and this is my driveway with my current 3 Jeeps! Attachment 372164 Attachment 372165 The Comanche will get another build thread once I get some time put in on it My plans for this new jeep are pretty big, but will happen in stages: First swap everything from my 88 including: Full Rusty's 6.5 short arm lift IRO's HD OTK steering kit IRO 1.5" lift shackles 35" Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers also other stuff that I'm sure I'm forgetting Other stuff I've got that needs to go in along with the lift and 35's: Rusty's steering box brace C-ROK spacer 99 Durango Steering box Rusty's Track bar brace YJ flares to cover up the 35's and allow for a bit of cutting of the fenders for them to fit! Now with all that swapped and installed I should be able to do some wheeling again! One side note is that two of the wheels for my 35's were out of round so they are being warrantied and wont be here for another month so it'll be a little bit before I will have it going down the road again which is really LAME! Now this is what it looks like after getting the rear lift installed, which took too long due to the terrible leaf bolts all of us XJ owners know about Attachment 372166 Moving it over to the side yard since my 4 vehicles and my Mom's 2 don't all fit it in the drive way Attachment 372167 I will try and take pictures as I can and keep this thread updated as best I can as well! |

Ok, so I'm gonna have sorta a big update because I haven't been keeping up like I should.
Well, I will just list what I've completed so far; Finished the lift Swapped everything I wanted over from my 88 Rusty's steering box brace C-ROK spacer 99 Durango Steering box Rusty's Track bar brace Rough Country SYE Cherokee front Drive shaft HD Off Road Shackle relocation kit Rough Country Sway bar disco's H4 headlights + Bulbs Putco Headlight wiring harness Bushwacker Flat style fender flairs 703 injectors 99+ intake manifold APN Header Custom Catback with a Magnaflow Rough Country Throttle body spacer Custom bored Throttle body Accel Tune up kit Swapped out the Dummy Gauges Fixed all my Check Engine light codes Thats all I can think of right now, if I remember something I'll post it up Now some pics of the Jeep: |

Paint and install my JCR pre-runner bumper Install my CB Repaint my rear bumper Now comes the fun part of the build. Finally being able to take it out and wheel it. Oh and if anyone has any input I need a nickname for my Jeep! A few more pics that I didn't post above |

My newest update:
I was up in northern MN playing around in a clear cut and I experimented with a little trail blazing. I broke one of my new lights on my bumper, ripped a bolt out of my fender flair, broke a mirror and added a new dent to the body. Not too bad considering the trees I was crashing down. I was also able to give my nieces a ride in my jeep too. |
I haven't posted this here yet but I made it up to the Gilbert OHV park in Gilbert, MN in August this summer. I was rather surprised that even without lockers I was able to hit a lot of the trails in the park. While I was up there with a buddy of mine we finally stumbled on my Jeeps nickname, "Gumby" we happened to do a trail up there called Gumby's rocks and we got to thinking the color of the Jeep is fitting and my plans for this jeep is to make it flex like crazy so I'm thinking the nickname is gonna stay. I don't have the best pictures, as you know when you're wheeling the cool stuff you don't really think "Oh, this would be a great photo op". Here's what I have for pics:

I should update this thread and say I have recently installed Daystar's polly engine and transmission mounts. I have to warn that there are ten fold the amount of engine vibrations throughout the Jeep than before. I like having the piece of mind that I have good mounts but keep in mind that the fist time you start the vehicle after installing them there will be vibrations like you've never felt before.
