So latest update. I finally pulled the valve cover so I could more easily replace damaged CCV elbow and grommet. I was really hoping that would help it idle better but Roxanne is being stubborn I suppose. Next step is to try and see if the CMP from my the Widder will help her run better and go from there. I am really eager to drive Roxanne.

you really should have the codes rescanned to verify the problem. a bad cam or crank sensor can really screw things up. also get the new plugs wires cap and rotor in if you have not already done so. that code is there for a reason. ignoring it can cause more problems and aggravation

Okay, time for another update:
Yesterday I put new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button, you would think she would run better now....
.....Now she won't stay running. I can get her started but she resists and then dies as soon as I let off gas.
I haven't had time to really check it all out. I am hoping that all it is that I got wires mixed up or something simple like that. I will have to check it out in a few days when I am only working one job.

Okay, I am very very excited to share that I think I finally got to the bottom of the idle problems with this Jeep. My friend Andy came over and looked at the distributor and it turned out that the distributor just needed to be adjusted and he got it straightened out for me. I can't wait to get tags and inspection for it next monday. It will be awesome to be driving it again.

So I took her to get inspected and she PASSED!!! She passed both Emissions test and Safety inspection. I am so happy I can drive her around legal now.

So yesterday I changed transmission fluid and filter and cleans transmission pan out pretty well. I am trying to get her ready for my first trail ride this weekend. I also wanted to change the oil too, which I was able to change the oil but not the filter. Cuz the motor in this XJ came from a wrangler the oil filter is on in such a away that it can't be changed without raising or lowering the motor. Looks like the XJ has an adapter type piece that the filter attaches to, so I may try to remove it from my black XJ and hope it will mount on this one in place of filter so I can get filter pointing towards the back not towards the wheel well.

Yesterday I went to dealer and got a new TPS just in case that was causing my problems. Of course that was not it but u figured so many issues go back to that it couldn't hurt to have a new one.
I guess next step is another trans fluid change and filter again and gonna try down new shifting solenoids I should be getting from a friend.

I got my new catalytic converter yesterday and we mostly got it installed. We still need one more adapter before I really start driving it around but she seems to be running better.
We had trouble getting the downstream oxygen sensor out of old catalytic converter so I picked up another one.
I hope she will be happier now.

Today I took Roxanne in to Rodney's Transmissions to get the transmission flushed. They also adjusted a cable a tiny bit as well. I hope this helps. I know the old fluid was really rough looking. This fluid change took place at 173450 miles.

Put a battery hold down bracket in jeep today. I also used rubbing compound to fix my hoods oxidation. Looks so much better now

So I have been having some problems with engine running really hot (hard to monitor without a temp sending unit to tell dash coolant temp) but I have concluded that I need at minimum a good coolant flush, which I performed today at about 173,500 miles. It seems to be running cooler but I am not convince that radiator isn't clogged some. I noticed the water (after the flush) is sparkly which leads me to believe that someone put some of the Bars stop leak in there
I reckon my next step is to correct the problem with my lack of a temp sensor.

Latest update: Yesterday my boyfriend and I finally got the temperature sending unit installed inline on heater hose.
However, my electric fan is still not working like it should. We jumped it to the battery and the aux fan motor is functioning, but it doesn't seem to kick on when it should. We found the relay for the aux fan and swapped it with one from my other Jeep and still nothing, but of course we don't know that the one we got worked either. Also that was a the relay that was laying in the floorboard when I bought the Jeep so someone else has already tried this so I don't expect it's the relay.
The coolant temp sensor looks like it has been removed based on the corners of it being really rounded, but it doesn't appear to be new. I am not totally sure how to test the sensor.
Someone told me that the aux fan won't work if the refrigerant is low. At this point all I know is the AC doesn't work, not sure if compressor is good if lines leak or what. Ugh. I really don't want to have to fix that first. Grr.
