hello CF, my name is tim and i have a 1999 with AX-15 and lots of miles. got it pretty cheap, plan to do a whole lot to it. this is going to take a while as i live 40 miles from where it is and where all the tools are, but i hope to get to it a couple times a week.
background- been a lurker for a few years, did a ton of research, through a series of interesting events i finally have a jeep to work on. used deployment money to fund parts and tried to research everything i could before i bought it. still lacking some things but i hope to order them soon.
recently married, going to school full time.
plans are pretty boring but i do plan on doing it right as best i can.
parts i have:
4.5 lift
33x10.5 km2 x5
cragar soft 8's x5
xrc8 winch
front winch bumper
thor intake
AA sye
d-rings, tow strap, ****** block
kc daylighter 130w black fog lights
detours a-pillar fog light mounts
headlight harness upgrade
rubber floor mats for everywhere
little mig welder to play with
Parts i need:
battery
h4 housing and bulbs
4.10 gears
front locker
driveshaft
frame stiffeners
chassis saver
monstaliner
argon/co2 etc for my welder
misc tools like wire wheel etc.
future plans subject to change:
sliders, rear bumpers, dual battery, oba, steering, brakes, etc
i think that's all of it for now, so how about some pics.
this is the only picture i really have of it right now, i'll get more before i start when i clean it up a bit
had to make a tent for it as i don't have a garage.
tedious part done
the boss checking my work
in its new home for the next 6 months probably. it's tight but it's what i could afford on my newly responsible budget minded self.
more pics/ update tomorrow hopefully

did some more work today. here's a pic of the whole tent for reference. it's pretty tight but it's what i could make happen.
and here are some pics of my parts pile. wheels, recovery gear, lift parts, thrush welded exhaust, and a set of 31's i haven't decided what to do with quite yet i took off the zj i rolled.
these are the tires i'm going to put on. and the rear leaves
today's job was set the jeep on stands and start the take down.
broke one lower shock bolt but got the axle out and in the basement by myself which wasn't so fun. also, it was a good thing i started dismantling as when i was lowering the completely unhooked axle i was confused when the leaf spring came with it, then noticed the shackle had rusted to the point that it came apart. never seen that before but oh well.
going to make some bpe's out of the sway bar mounts like i've seen on here before
Thursday should see some more progress when i'm back in town to get a 3" single exhaust on my truck.

well, i've been distracted from the jeep. put a new exhaust on my truck. totaled my wife's subaru forester a little while ago hitting a deer so i have been looking for a replacement. couldn't find a standard cherokee close enough so i got her a bmw... doesn't make sense i know but i used to have the same style and missed it. it needs a bit so i'm going to have to juggle. also been hunting, got one, and need to process it before i can work on either vehicle. but updates on xj should come this week. here is the car just for fun.

project stalled (if you couldn't tell) as i lost the title, it's still titled in p.o.' s name and he refused to apply for a new title so current plan is find rust free 97-99 shell and transfer things over. sucks.

sorry to hear. people are a$$holes. from what pics you posted of taking that one apart the rust looks like it had been rotting away in the dirt somewhere.. lol.

it's actually surprisingly rust free on the body, rockers and frame rails and fenders and floors etc don't have any real rust almost, it's just some surface rust on small pieces aside from the shackle obviously. i'm pretty sure i could have sanded everything down and undercoated it and been good to go for a long time. all original pieces under there. looks worse in pics than it actually is.
worst part is i'm sitting on a 4.5" long arm lift worth more than the jeep

i'm not selling it for 500. being a 99 with a 5 speed and rather good condition, it's pretty valuable to me. i'm keeping it till i can get a rust free shell and swap everything that i want over. then i will part out everything else. also, if you're in SC as your coordinates suggest, it wouldn't be worth your 13hr drive.

i lost it because i got off deployment and didn't have a permanent place to stay for 6 months. it got misplaced during that time. previous owner is 500 miles away and older and doesn't want to "be bothered" even though i would pay for everything. i didn't transfer it over because i had no intentions of registering it for quite awhile because i want to do a ton of stuff to it while it's not on DD status, so i didn't feel the need(hindsight is 20/20). still going to see if i can convince him to get a new one.

bought a new jeep- same color, 98, 5 speed, 170k, no rust. didn't lose the title this time. starting work on the new one, so far i've done coolant flush, oil change, and detours a-pillar light brackets and KC daylighter fog lights.
next purchases will be undercoating, welding tank, stiffeners, and gears, once those are installed on the jeep the lift will go on. all that costs mucho dinero so it might be a bit. might start a new thread for that jeep since this one turned out so bad (my fault)
