Swapping a 4.7 to 4.0
Heres the deal folks. Hunted, found, bought a cherry 02 grand cherokee with a 4.0. Its lived a very gentle life. Original owner had into the dealership every 3 months like clockwork, the jeep getting whatever it needed. The only time it was off road was when she missed her driveway. :) Anywho, 4 months later some doofus in a full size silverado with a trailer full of lawn equipment rear ended the wife...she at a dead stop, brakes applied, he never touched his anchors at over 45 mph....BANG! Dead cherry GC.
Found a 99 GC with a great body but 4.7 with blown head gasket. Coolant in the crankcase. Mechanically, shes pretty used up. over 200K miles, lived a Jeep life. The plan is to swap as many good parts over as possible including the entire drive train. Question is this. Am I setting myself up for failure or am I correct in assuming this project should be a pretty straight forward swap/plug and play?
