Just a 20 year old vehicle showing its age, your replacing what the PO didn't want to do...

That's absolutely correct! It looks like the PS leak was just the low pressure hose where it connects to the Durango steering box. I used the factory tension clamp instead of a worm gear clamp previously. That was apparently a mistake. As soon as I got that fixed, it started seeping coolant by the radiator cap. Picked up a Stant cap at the local parts store to alleviate that problem. 😊
Nice build! Excited to see how it turns out. |
I built myself a steering box brace tonight. I used a bracket from my old front bumper, a 2 and 1/8th inch exhaust clamp, and my old hollow factory tie rod. My welding sucks, but I'm learning. It's bolted under the sway bar bushing on the passenger side. The pictures aren't great because it was dark outside and I just got through slapping some black paint on it. I got the idea from another forum member on here.

I installed new shackles tonight because one of my factory ones broke. It was a pain getting the bolts out, but I finally persevered.

It has been awhile since I have updated my thread. I've been spending time on one of my other project vehicles. I finally got the Zone quick disconnects installed. I also replaced the downpipe with a Walker one that doesn't have the "kink" in it. Replaced the old oxygen sensor because it started throwing a code. Then while doing all that, I noticed that my driver side u joint in the axle was bad. I pulled the axle and replaced the u joint with a new Spicer unit. While I was in there, I decided to put a Lokka lunchbox up front to compliment the trac-loc LSD out back. I buttoned it all back up and put some synthetic fluid back in the diff. Did some light off-roading this past weekend and it seems to do pretty well.

Changed out my injectors to the 703’s. I didn’t notice much change. Maybe a little response, but I don’t drive the Jeep very often. I’m going to see if my mpg’s improve. They’re at 13.1 right now.

I pulled my rear bumper end caps off and found a ton of rust. I decided to go ahead with the cut and fold. I also trimmed the rear quarter panels and put on the flat flares.
