A Story of 2"
 

So the time had finally come to put the two inch lift into my Jeep(I know 2" isn't a lot for you guys, but this is my first Jeep so it was a big deal!) After quite a long time scouring this forum, I decided my best bet was a Daystar 1 3/4" block lift for the front and brand new OME medium duty springs with the 2" built in for the rear. So after work this morning I head out to my buddy Tom's house(he's a fantastic mechanic) and we get to work, several lienenkugel's in we realize to get the front blocks in we basically have to disconnect a lot more s*#t than we had originally thought. After 2 hours and a few hairraising moments with the spring compressors we get both of the front blocks in and put back together(only after losing a nut on one of the control arms due to impact wrench mayhem).

Ok so the time has come to pull the old leafs out. Now as I said I have scoured these forums since I bought the thing in march, and I have read all your horror stories about breaking the nuts inside the frame at the front of the leafs. I said my prayer and Tom and Jaime(another awesome mechanic who showed up to have some fun) not only get both of the bolts out, but they are still useable(as these are the only things I didn't order from Quadratec)! Another 2 hours and several more leinenkugels(If you've been to WI you've drank one or more!) The rear leafs are replaced and we set 'er back down and presto, I have what to me is a brand new truck! We gained 2" in the front and 4" in the rear(yes the old leafs were that bad!) I have included a before and after shot. the before shot is from when I just bought it and it had the 225's on it, the new ones are 235's.

So, all told this has been the biggest job yet performed on my baby and I am ecstatic! So I had to tell someone, and who better than the guys at the cherokee forum, who either through scouring or answering my own stupid questions did help this come to fruition!

As of march, I have replaced: waterpump, catalytic converter, O2 sensor, tires, and now the new leafsprings and block lift.

What remains is: new bumber w/ grille/brush guard, winch, tint, CD player, and eventually a new paint job! Thanks for reading my story I hope you enjoy!

Hey, that's 2" more than mine is lifted. Looks great! Personally I'm not a huge fan of anything greater than 4" for daily driving anyway. Clean looking Jeep.

That's about all I have planned for mine too. Although I want to stuff larger tires under it. I have 235's now but want to try for 30's or 31's

Thanks guys! I appreciate the positive feedback. The best stuff I heard from my mechanic buddies was how impressed they were that that is a 14 year old Jeep. They couldn't believe how clean the underside was (we get a ton of road salt up here) for a vehicle its age. Not bad for $2600! :D
