SRT8 Build
Ok guys, I'm sure a lot of people are gonna be jumping out of their skin when reading this, but I'm trying to be different. Around where I'm at we don't have much use for 4wd, so what I'm thinking of doing, is taking my 90' Cherokee with the I6, and either taking the front drive train out and throwing a 2wd front end. And I'm either going to build me a nice 383, lower the truck, and build me one hell of a sleeper. My other idea is trying to find me a wrecked Subaru, pulling out all drive train components, and doing a transplant. Then I could have a awd, turbo, and have a super sleeper. What you guys think?

Yeah, I can build a nice carbed 383 for around $2500 with an average set of heads. And that would be pretty cool, cause if I wanted to, I could still get a procharger and maybe a 150hp shot. But if I do that, I'm trying to think of a way to make it awd instead of 4wd, there is a big difference. That's one of the reasons for going with a Subaru Forester drive train. Maybe see if I can find a newer STI wrecked so I can have ECM, PCM and everything. Get her nice and low to the ground, throw a set of newer SRT-8 style wheels. Do some redesigning of the front suspension and rear suspension to help it corner better, and go play. It might would cost around 15-20k by the time it's all said and done, but man what a head turner it would be! Just a ton of funamd a helluva sleeper

My only thought would be a np242 it has a full time 4x4 which is kind of AWD.
Also would you convert it too IFS? Trying to get a strait axled vehicle to corner well is a challenge.

The whole SRT swap would be really cool, but trying to find a wrecked one is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Lol. I just think the AWD would be really sick. I might would try doing some auto cross type stuff. But trying to find something that will work, is gonna be hard too. The reason for looking for an AWD is for the limited slip in the front for cornering. But I will more than likely go with IFS, get it on the ground, and go with a V8 and RWD. Although I'm playing around with a couple engine packages. But I'm thinking of going paint color Brilliant Black, SRT wheels, do some interior stuff, and I gonna grab me a couple SRT 8 badges and let it eat.

If your serious about this im going to follow this thread. Been thinking of doing the same thing. I use to have a 2wd 92 xj stock that would whoop *** and i kinda miss it. But im still going to keep my rig.

Yea, ann mines a 4door 4x4. It might be a little cooler if I had a 2 door, but the 4 door will be different. I'm serious about doing this. I'm researching which is going to be the best option. It would kinda be nice to find a good body, and go from there. But can you imagine a lowered v8 powered Cherokee pulling up to the local car meet, camming like crazy an the exhaust cut outs opened?? It would be pretty mean. So, I will start pulling her apart tonight. The interior will even receive a roll cage, probably going to cut the rear up a little to be able to do some fun suspension stuff. Hopefully it will only take a few months.
