Setting up an 88 XJ - zXJ
 

Purchased the 88 Laredo locally. Had been stored for 4 years inside. 234k miles. All power options work and it fired up and drove home, 4x4 even worked properly.

Went to the junkyard and picked up an HP D30 non-disco axle and an 8.8. Also found a t-case with a SYE:

Looks great. Why did you go with cork gaskets and stock engine mounts? Felpro gaskets and brown dog mounts are the way to go.

With 234k, something tells me I won't stick with this power train too long. The gaskets were closeouts from rock auto for a buck and change. You're right tho

Can't argue with that deal. I'm rolling up to 250k without much issues, just a small oil adapter leak that I just need to find time to change.

Very nice build so far

Got a lot of little finishing things to get the front bumper done. I'm going to paint the chopped fender to cut down on the potential for rust, add door edge trim over the end of the fender and the flare to tighten up the look of the cuts, remove the air dam from the front of the jeep. Still need to get the rear bolts in the winch. I may need to cut access holes in the bumper to do so, still dreaming up solutions for that right now. Need to wire in the winch and test it..blah blah. Simple things, just need the time.

So far, I like the bumper minus the limitation of space getting the proper length bolt into the rear of the winch, but I'll figure that out.
