Sand Scorpion
Hi everyone For a while I have been following your interesting topics in this wonderful forum and I have been inspired to build my project and have called it Sand Scorpion The project is in its infancy and any comment that benefits me or criticism is welcome I bought this car a year ago and I work on it I finished the basic mechanical parts and now work on the following plan https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...c7268c521.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ccf0897f7.jpeg |

Subbed, this looks like an interesting one!

Welcome to the site Fodiiis !
Looks like a xj that's going to be a lot of fun will be watching! |
nice rig I love the sheet metal work !
|
It’s time to customize the taillights But I am puzzled by the final form any suggestions?? https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...7b89a00b0.jpeg |
The way you're chopping your rig is the exact way I plan to do my next one. Keeping the door frames and such while opening the roof and back, a poor man's JKU honestly.
Subbed for sure, excited to see where you're headed. |

Always like the look of chopped xj's. It looks great and I'm excited to see how this one turns out!

I am not sure what your total light arrangement will be, but with those LEDs if you keep a functional signal, you will need to run LEDs on the front and get an LED flasher or run a resistor on the tail light.

Never seen this kind of license plate before??

That aluminum work looks killer and the yellow really is set off with the bed liner!

Man, I really respect Saudi auto culture! Cool project, keep up the solid work.
|
This thing is looking better and better, keep it up!

Love the top solution, such an awesome build!!

WTF, Leafs and coils in the rear?
|
What is wrong on this |
What he has done is saved a ton on links. However I would caution that this axle will wrap badly under power. But he will find that out
|
Should I remove it ?

I will drive on sand and some times I have to jump
do you think it’s safety |
I wouldn't do it with that set up. If you are going to see some air time there are a couple of things you should do. One is to have the front suspension stiffer than the rear. Too much rear spring will make the front do a nose dive and if you do it at speed then you may roll end over end. Been there and done that. I suggest you study some Trophy trucks in races like the Baja 500 and 100. Or the Mint. You will see they have moved the rear spring toward the front on a trailing arm and it is quite soft. The other thing is bump stopping properly. What you had is not bump stopped. It is that rubber thing on the frame above the axle. People that do lots of air will get air stops. It is a cylinder that bolts there that can be filled with nitrogen, but I don't know why you couldn't use air in your dry climate. It increases the resistance as it compresses and keeps most of the bang out of the axle when it meets the frame. This goes along with good shocks. Fox and Bilstein make bolt in shocks that can be tuned. It is a matter of adding or arranging different diameter and thickness of metal discs in the end of the shock rod. There is a lot of experimentation involved with this. But the good news is the folks that make these things have all the expertise you will need to start out. It all involves money and how much you want to invest

Love the build! Very interested in how it handles with the V8 power. I am currently ordering parts for an LS swap myself

Looks very nice. Now upload some vids of it in action
