Cool RUFUS!!!!!

Rufus is my "new" 94 Cherokee, 4.0L high-output V6 automatic. I paid 300 dollars for him plus a POS street bike I bought for my husband (It was sitting in the backyard doing nothing!).

Rufus is pretty rough - Cracked windshield, rusted exhaust, none of the tires match (different sizes), has to be hotwired to start, no 'guts' in the driver door (have to use a shed latch and screwdriver to keep it closed), a household lightswitch to turn the heat on, various loose wires that I have NO idea what they go to, some seatbelts dont work, and of course, a really rough body.

My first fix was the exhaust. Nothing fancy. Dual Thrush glasspacks. He's much quieter, but you can still here him coming. Also changed all the spark plugs, changed the oil and filter last night and put in a new sound system. Going to service the transmission this week. And start on the body work.

I'm doing 90% of everything myself, thanks to having a mechanic for a father (who growing up rebuilt Jeeps and still has his '53 M38 A1) and an auto body tech and painter for a 1st husband. My first husband has agreed to paint Rufus for me free of charge.

Been joking I'm going to paint him lime green and hot pink camo. But its COMPLETELY a joke!! Really considering either sunburnt orange with black rims or black with green pearl.

I've been taking pictures as I go. Once I find my USB cord for my camera I'll put some up here.

Sounds good. But if the engine you have in it is a 4.0l its not a V8 its an inline 6, they only put V8's in the grands. Doesnt mean they cant really haul though with just the 6.

Well thanks to some helpful folks here looks like I'll also be replacing my fuel pump and filter this weekend. You guys

Can't complain too much for it having 252xxx+ miles, motors strong. Hoping that servicing the tranny will help with the slight slip.

On the hunt for my camera cord now lol

A few shots of my work yesterday.

Hours of sanding and prepping and I got the front dash pieces painted and the little plastic cover that goes around the gauges painted. Love the way it looks. And its so nice finally having my start button mounted and not just hanging there.

I had a few people suggest I leave the rest of the dash alone. But I really think it would look great all black. Any suggestions??

You're making progress.
On a side note, you should use Photobucket for your photo needs. It's free, and you can send them anywhere. >-> http://photobucket.com/
