What a crazy summer this has been, still swamped, tired & ugly.....But I'll work through it all..

.
Sooo, I was approached the other day by the wife who wanted her garage back........

The 'Felony has been in her garage for months now, neglected & forgotten.
Now as with most of us......what the wife wants, the wife usually gets....So 2 days ago I drove it out and put it in the shop.......
Now, I know I spoke of selling it....but I started thinking, why the heck am I not driving this thing other than the fact that's it's not finished & my kid hates it ever since I plastered his 6 year old body against the rear hatch/window 2 months ago while wheeling up the ridge line......

I know, I know......bad daddy...But I forgot that his seat was yet to be bolted down........whoops!
Could happen to anybody...right???.
Anywhoooo......after some thought, I decided to inventory every thing I need to do to get this thing on the street and put some miles on it, it's not
a short list.....but I think I'm going to go for it in what ever time I can find and actually put plates on this thing again.
One day into it, I restrung new welding cable to the battery in the rear of the rig...(bought new cable 5 months ago)...this fixed my short, found existing welding cable 'rubbed through' from prior wheeling 'fun'......

And do you remember the side quarter panel 'stash'? Well, after looking I decided to scrap the idea of tubing the entire wheel well, which would have been extensive......it's not a show vehicle, it's a 20 year old beater...Sooo-

Gave it a good look over, then nailed it!
Basically done, ready for tube flare in 1.5 hours.......silly me!

.
So, if I can manage to find 1-2 hours a day.....I'm thinking I can nail this thing in a few weeks, maybe actually get it legal.....then continue the nonsense as time permits! What the hell, I needed a hobby anyway!!

.
Watch for more!

Maybe I'm back a little as well, time to work on my own junk....
.
.
"What's the fender box look like on the inside? It it attached to anything structural?"
Fabricated box welded to quarter panel protection, quarter panel protection welded to body.....If you read back, pretty sure there's more detail...

Thank you, but I need to meet certain objectives before I can plan anything.

Alrighty.........Started my new diet today!
I figured if I gave up lunch........I'd gain some Jeep time!

Kinda like killing 2 birds, with one stone!! (but man, i'm hungry!)
.
So anyway.....skipped lunch in trade for some easy Jeep work.......I kept the glass (all these years) from my very 1st XJ, it was an '87 Limited featuring mirrored tinted glass. I had previously installed the rear side pieces but never the back, seemed like a quick & easy lunch time job!
BEFORE:

AFTER:

Rear glass is an easy swap on the pre '97's......I had a total of 20 minutes invested in the swap. (man those are some old stickers).....Since it's factory glass, I'm pretty much legal anywhere.
.
That being done in a timely manner, I sprayed the interior of the side stash box gray...with a good dusting of black......another little job out of the way!

.
Now.............I hate to even show it, but my room is a mess.......

Sooner or later, probably sooner.....I need to address this, straighten out the wiring, reposition battery, bolt down the ARB compressor, get the kid's seat in place.....etc..
.
On second thought.....maybe I'll farm this job out....anyone know of any decent maid services out there???

.
Stay tuned as they say!

Hinge re-alignment 101.....
3/16" plate, 1/4" plate, piece of wood & your Jeep jack........

Hinge pulled from mounting area, can't remove my fender......door bolts hardly budge.......I pressed it all back into place, ready to weld!
(I had a 1/2" gap between door & weather strip...eeeeks!)
Nother item off the list!

COULD IT GET ANY MORE HUMID IN THESE PARTS?
My god, the last 8-10 days have been horrible......
.
So, I stayed away from anything that required crawling around under the Jeep and decided to do some house cleaning......
.
Popped the top for the 1st time in 7 years.....gave it the scrub job!

.
Got the interior back in order & 'mostly rewired.....Now I have a place to nap!
.

Had to move the ARB compressor....no longer fit on the other side......

.
If you don't recall the tool box, it's the battery box......

.
That's it for now, looking forward to the cold front swinging down!!!
