ive been starting to build alot of stuff myself, considering ive never taken any welding or mechanics class ever, strictly electrical stuff. theres nothing better then imagining something, then morphing that idea into reality through lots of trial and error and plenty of thinking. nothing else like thinking outside of the box. flanking the problem is the best way to come up with creative solutions.

love the build. cant wait to see more. this should be cherokee of the year, not just month haha.

XJ4life92, that......is a very considerate, well meaning reply....Thanks. James.......BWAAAHAAAHAAAAAAAAAA! Good one!

Nothing quite that radical for me.....yet. But this is my 7th van and I have owned 2 with some pretty kool interiors, a bit more conservative though..lol.

What I did'nt know is custom vans are making a come back, even the Discovery Channel has interest in them.....and, they're CHEAP! 250/350 models are perfectly suitable for towing, and your not sleeping in a tent when doing over nighters, 4x4 versions are available and they can just be fun to build!

Best sticker mod I've found for the van thus far:
DONT LAUGH! YOUR DAUGHTER MIGHT BE IN HERE!

I'm pretty dang happy with this thus far, I'm actually considering it for production, with a larger interior pocket.....it would be ready-assembled as a bolt-in kit.

As it sits, I can fit a 4' tree strap, a very heavy 10' strap, winch controller, deflate kit & gauge, gloves, multi tool.....and still have a little space for other small trailside goodies. No longer will I need to go in & out of the rear hatch for these items........diggin it!

I'll get a better/lighter pic posted later.....
Kinda like my sides but cooler

was in a deep thought mood when i wrote that reply haha. the only time i every say "good enough" is when i get so frustrated that im about to stick a 13mm socket through my eye. dont have much funds right now. the guy who sold me the axles totally ripped me off. they were junk. just bought all the stuff to set up my 8.25. after totally rebuilding the front. 6 ton press, dial indicator, misc pullers and crap, yukon axle rebuild kit, wheel bearings and seals. if i had the money i would be putting in 4.56s but thats an extra 500$ that i dont have. doing this really should test my ability and patients. i would like to do so much more but time and money are not working in my favor.

not only keeping a old dd on the road, but working on a bike project too. the bike is kind of a release from the jeep. so much easier. its more of an artistic creating then a functional creating. both are fun.

Ok...wow!!

A couple hours at work and about an hour at home, finally made it through it all. I must say, you sir, know how to make a build thread. This is probably the first and only one I have actually read every post, not just skipped ahead to the pictures. So thank you for my eyeballs burning.

I have been to your site a few times before I saw this thread and have a mental shopping cart that is getting pretty full, just waiting to find one of those money trees.

Mark, got the package, just wanted to say thanks (yeah I know, I'm a bit late). Probably won't be able to install it until early next year but will send a pic once it's on. Thanks for getting that done for me despite the crazy summer.

On a positive note........It seems I may be working with another company to bring yet another *NEW* and shiney product to the XJ market......Soo, that being said, I'll be needing to fire up the 'Felony and swing it around back into this side of the shop for some prototyping.....

It wasn't going to be an easy restoration/build to start with, but now it's just going to be way too involved with a questionable out come. It was my Uncles since the early 60's, it'll be donated to a junk yard specializing in Jeeps for others to score parts from, it won't be crushed for scrap.
.
Anywhoooo......Find insperation where you can, it's everywhere.......
