Resurrection of 'Jeep Nation'!
The Story: I got my 1992 XJ when I was a senior in highschool to replace my old Chevy Nova which probably wouldn't make the drive to college in Corvallis, OR. A few years later I pinner her between three trees on the side of the hill. Unfortunately I used the insurance money to buy a Chevy Blazer, but luckily I kept the Jeep.
I've been collecting parts to bring 'Jeep Nation' aka 'Jizzabelle' back from the grave. I tossed the bumpers, got doors and a grille assembly from a black 91, a new OEM fender (not worth the money), and a maroon hood. I'm about ready to shoot a new layer of red on the outer shell and finish up my custom bumpers in time for some summertime beach and camping trips. Other projects on the list are: Identifying and fixing the knocking noises in the engine. Painting the free set of old rusted steel wheels I found. Triming fenders New paint and some super-sweet decals other repairs and solving electrical problems The XJ as it was before the unfortunate tree incident http://lh6.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5.../100_12741.JPG As she looks today http://lh4.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...0/DSCF2283.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...0/DSCF2284.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...0/DSCF2282.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...0/DSCF2287.JPG 2 inch coil spacers and greasable shackles put her at 4.5" give or take. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...os%2000014.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...os%2000013.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...os%2000015.JPG I have a lot more stuff I'd like to do, but I need a job first. Anyone hiring recent CEM grads? Seriously |
The upgrades:
31" tires Adjustable track-bar Sway bar disconnects 2.5" rough country lift (coils, add-a-leafs, and shocks) 2" greasable shackles and coil spacers Flowdaddy headers Rusty's torque tube and throttlebody spacer K&N air filter Flowmaster exhaust I'm working on custom bumpers but my welde sux |
Trimmed the fenders today, and worked on the sticky brakes. Need some more funds before I can do any serious upgrades. Although, I'll probably paint prett soon.

Everything looks good so far. Keep up the good work. How much did all the parts run you?

Also you should put this thread in the "Cherokee Builds" forum

I'm really not sure how much I've put into it. I first lifted it about 5 or 6 years ago which was I think 2.5 or 3 inches and it was a few hundred dollars. I bought shackles and spacers a few months ago. Replacing the body panels was pretty cheap since I bought stuff off old jeeps. The intake and exhaust stuff was a package deal from Rusty's, except for the headers. You can check their site, they have pretty good package deals for performance parts and they really make a huge difference. I haven't gotten into axles and lockers, etc. since I've been in college and basically broke for the last five years. I'll be doing a lot of cosmetic type stuff pretty soon and bumpers.
here's a pic of after trimming the fenders. I'll be shooting some new paint sooner or later. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_miWikrENsfQ/S5...0/DSCF2302.JPG |
looks like my free steel wheels don't fit, so i'll probably paint the factory wheels. Got most of my electrical problems out of the way and put in an aux line the stereo for my ipod.
