Purple Nurple
Thought I'd start my build thread.
I picked up a 98 XJ last year and have been using it as my daily driver. Nurple seems to be fairly solid so I decided to turn her into something better.

She seemed to have a problem keeping cool so I replaced the water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hoses, radiator (it was full of scale and gunk and multiple flushes didn't really clear it out very well), and fan clutch. I broke the radiator shroud so replaced it with a new one. Problem solved. We cool now.
I recently added a headlight wiring harness, thanks to some advice I picked up here, and put some better headlights in. No more problem seeing at night.
I got tired of the crappy stereo with just 3 working speakers, so ordered 4 JVC speakers and a receiver from Crutchfield, and put that in last week.
I also ordered a set of 4 hole injectors which I'll drop in next week.

My list of fun mods include-
The paint on the roof and hood is looking rough so I'm deciding what to do about that.
- 3 inch lift
- Replacement bumpers
- Fender Flares
- Replace roof rack
- Rocker panel and rear quarter panel armor
- Rock sliders
- Better seats
- Aux lights
- Bigger wheels/tires

I don't have a place to do much wrenching and I've jacked my knee up, so I had a local shop install my lift. Just got it back today.
I went with a Rough Country 3 inch AAL. I should have taken some measurements first, so I don't know exactly how much lift I ended up with. Old-timers disease... lol I'm very happy with where it ended up though. Drives fine, I don't see or feel anything that concerns me.
After it was all said and done, I'm glad I had someone else do the work. It seems every possible bolt broke during the process.

I like where you going with the build. Nice Jeep too! Always helps when you have a good looking one to start with. Sure bolts broke but that can happen at least you got the lift on. Hope it didn't cost you too much to do from the shop but like you said you had no choice no room to wrench on it.

Thank y'all much. Will get out this weekend and get some better pix.
I'll put the new injectors in this weekend and need to clean off the double-sided tape from the trim I took off the doors. I like a cleaner look so I'll probably take the pinstripes off too.
The paint on the roof really needs some attention so I should get to that soon. I'm leaning towards shooting some black U Pol Raptor on the roof, hood, and top of the fenders where the clear coat is coming off, and leaving the sides purple. This may look like a 2-day old black eye by the time I'm finished.

Great looking Jeep! It's hard to find nice, original Cherokees that haven't been abused and "modded" to hell. I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for it. Keep it clean, don't become a Cherokee statistic.

OK... I need to ask? Do you have or can you get a picture of this Jeep in direct sunlight? These are all in the shade and I'm not sure they are representing this paint color as well as they should be... Like mine... They stand out much better when in the sunlight.

I took a few pix today so maybe you can tell more about the paint color. It looks different as the light conditions change. I guess everything does, I sure look better in the dark.
Front bumper and towing hardware coming off soon.
I pulled off the side trim, I think that it looks a lot cleaner. Need to remove the rest of the double sided tape and the pin stripes.
You can see how the clear coat is peeling on the hood and pretty well worn off the passenger side fender flare.

Thank you sir. Definitely won't be abusing my ride, but I do have quite a few ideas about where I want to take this.

Got a package at work last week
A little long but made it home without incident, but what is it?
This morning I finally unboxed it. New bumper from Tuff Stuff. Looks good!
Let's get started

Nurple was set up to tow behind a motor home when I got her. To get the bumper off I had to remove the hardware. We'll call this the bastard for now. Stuck. Won't budge. Resisting the urge to snap it off. Grrrrr.....
This side came off easy enough
End cap gone
Both end caps gone
