You mentioned changing out the dummy lights for real gauges. How did you go about that?

The swap for the guage cluster was really eazy.

My jeep is a 98. I kept and eye on craigslist for a cherokee that was being parted out, whose milage was similar to mine. I happened to find another 98 with real guages within a few miles of mine and just swapped it.

It is literally a plug and play. Pull the old, swap the new and you are done. I didnt need any sending units or anything like that.

I think some of the older XJ's might need some other stuff though

Mine's an '00 with a digital odometer, so I guess the millage wouldn't matter if I found one that also has a digital odometer. Are the other gauges digital, or are the mechanical?
