Also got a pic of my home-made LCA Skids, I know its nothing special but its the first thing i've actually MADE for my Jeep besides the bumper tie ins, I just cut out some 0.25 plate, welded it on there and pounded the ends around. Makes it so you have to unbolt the control arms in the back too to get it off the axle but w/e.

Well I just picked up the paint I had ordered the other day. I had to settle for Porsche red instead of Ferrari red since they were out of the Ferrari color code, what a major tragedy.
And I gave up on grinding the tan paint off, about 8 hours into it all I had done was the rear hatch and a little bit of the one rear quarter panel, im not spending all week grinding that stuff off so I'm just gonna prime and paint right the hell over it. Got the masking started this morning, nice to finally see some progress.

Jeep ought to be red tommorow. Its sanded, masked and primed and ready for the first coat of paint.
Had a friend hep me most of the day, my grandmothers dog.

Invited a human buddy over to help for most of the day. Last time I ask an engineer in training to help, the dog was more useful. He seemed to be under the impression we were working on a show quality Ferrari or something. If it were up to him we would have been going over the bondo with a micrometer to check for runout and x-raying all my welds.

So put the first two coats on this morning AND...
the paint is more orange then red, I was pretty pissed to see the result, so I went back to the store and they gave me some toner to mix in, now the paint should actually come out a proper red for the final 3 coats.
We will see tommorow I guess.

I just read through all 11 pages of this great build thread... I have gotten some good ideas, as well as some ideas of things not to bother wasting the time/money on (Bushwackers)... Can't wait to see it with the new paint on..

Ok its done, Paint took 2 days and a trip back to the Auto Parts store to complain that the paint was orange and not red and get new paint but the painting part is 100% done. It still looks a little on the orange side in the pics but in person its actually way deeper looking of a color. Mostly because I have a crap camera and bad lighting.
Gonna demask it tommorow and put on my JCR corners and in a few more days gonna bedline the rock rails and below the door creases.
Before:

After:

I'm really happy with it, its super smooth, like just as good as a factory paint job with no runs or rough spots or anything.
