Well, I figure I may as well start one of these before I get too deep into it. This is my second XJ, I sold my first one before I finished her (hence the name, Try Again).

Some more pictures, I never got around to the passanger side door removal so I guess I will leave that for another day..
Here is the top of the driver sides door where I cut it, I don't have a dremel or a cut off wheel that would fit in the gap so I had to take the door off by the t40 torx bolts. I may try cutting the passenger side off with the plasma because getting it to line back up was a pita. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-M...421_172618.jpg My solution for the speaker wires, I have manual everything so thats all I had to worry about. That duct tape isn't staying, I ran out of electrical tape. I am a big computer nerd so molex connectors on my Jeep is awesome lol https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-r...421_172631.jpg Oops.. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-n...421_172658.jpg How I cut my flairs and a part of the fender, I plan to add a bar or round tube onto the bumper and around to the fender for protection https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-K...421_173129.jpg Now onto the stickers.. Thrush welded (Flow 40s) https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-n...421_173150.jpg My decrepied Blood of the Broken sticker https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-G...421_173207.jpg And lastly.. THE LIFT! :D https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-n...419_153940.jpg |
Nice! Want to see her grow up!
|
Thanks man, so do I lol.

Okay guys, I have been dead set on getting the Rough Country 4.5in lift but am now thinking about getting a Zone 3in lift because its cheaper and would give me a better low cog rig. Is 4.5 too tall for a nice low cog on the rocks? This is my daily driver and will see action about once a month or so.
Ohh also, for tires I only plan on running 31s. |
4.5 will be fine, thats what i have and it is stable on 33x10.5's. I miss the width of 12.5's and they helped my stability too. My RC 3" on Trxus MT's was sweet, i just need to trim but instead i went up another inch or so.
What compressor number is that? I'm shopping around for them |
Alright thanks, I'll still have to think about it and build it all up in my head lol.
And about the compressor, I have no idea lol. The PO put it in. I'll try to get back to you with it asap but I'm able to go look at it right now. |
I wouldn't recommend RC 4.5 leaf springs, much less RC if i can help it. 4.5 leaves seem to all be too short and give a horrible shackle angle which means terrible ride and articulation.
Anything around 4 or 5 inches wont be too bad, especially on 33 or 35's. Yeah, I'm in the market for a compressor and just seeing what you have and if you like it. Nice sig BTW |
What other lift would you recommend in the price range?
And the compressor hasn't had too much use except for quick inflates but its been nice. No gripes with it, it works as it should, doesn't take forever to get up to 120psi and isn't too loud. Thanks for the comment on my signature, I love your quote from Toy Story lol. I see you posting on the forums a lot so I am always telling people in real life they are a "confusing little man" lol. |
Zone would be my recommendation. Good company or Rubicon express from Serious offroad.
I hear a lot about things about Viair compressors. Yeah haha that quote was from Lowrange2 but i dont know how to quote him directly... but also from Toy Story haha. Great movie |
So how would this lift be? I have never heard a bad thing about Zone so I wouldn't mind going with them.
http://zoneoffroad.com/product?ki=439&gr=-1 It doesn't have the upper control arms, brake lines, or a trackbar. Plus the front control arms aren't adjustable. Once I add that stuff onto the lift I'd be sitting around a grand you think? I figured the quote was probably from another member haha. Since you are helping me I went out into the rain to check what compressor I have, its the least I could do ;) Its the 91025 |

Brake lines are around $40 if you use some from a chevy and YJ. Track bar, i recommend a double shear one. You could try and piece everything together using Craigslist and forum shopping |

Also, what is the difference from a regular track bar and a double sheared? Sorry if thats a tarded question haha. |

Oh dang did I give you a the model number for the tank? Where you looking for the motor model number? Like I said, I didn't buy this compressor so I am not quite sure what you buy when you buy one lol. I know with my shop compressor the motor comes with it, are portable ones different?

Sorry if thats a tarded question haha. I'm on short arms and im happy with my suspension set up for now. The stock UCA's are just very thin and not as strong as aftermarket ones. Yeah the RE one will settle to around 4" especially without bumpers, winch, and all that. Track bars are either single or double shear. Single shears use either a TRE or a heim joint and most dont use high misalignment spacers. https://www.google.com/search?q=sing...KMvO0QHxzYDoCg |
Okay thanks again for the help!
I am still a bit confused on which lift I should buy but I am in no huge rush so its all good. I just can't seem to beat the RC price and most reviews I have read have been great. I have also heard that their CS is pretty good. I don't know.. to the thinking box I go.. |
