Little progress from today and yesterday.
Yesterday I started sanding down the old paint.
I have been watching videos on youtube, how to do the paint job, for quite a while lol
I still have no idea what I'm doing lol
Most of the jeep is not bad, but it had a peeling clear coat on the hood, rear hatch, and roof. It was a pain in a butt to sand it, while not making very deep scratches.
I still have to do the sanding on door jambs and get rid of the glue residue on the lower part of the body ( I don't know what to use to remove it. If you know, let me know)
Also, Clayton belly kit and rear coil conversion came in yesterday. I'm stoked lol
Can this jeep be painted already, so I can start putting it back together?!

I want to see you Bedline that. if I thought I could completely gut my Jeep and put it back together, that is the hard part, I would bedline mine in a heartbeat.
Can't wait to see the hood vents when it is done too.
Since you are going to sand it anyway I am thinking an eraser wheel.
When using one of these you have to be careful to not burn the paint. Guessing that would not be an issue for you.

It is pricey but works really well. And a little goes a long way. Does not evaporate real quickly.
Thanks for all the ideas. I purchased the 3m wheel today and we will see how it does. I will also try some cheaper adhesive removers, and if they don't work, I will order the 3m one.
This one is not getting a bed liner. It will be dark green (Tank green from jeep JK). If I was to bedline that, I would just scuff it, and paint. With the regular paint job, it's much more work.
I wish someone else could do it for me lol. But I have the deal with the painter lol. He is only painting, and I have to do the work. Much cheaper that way, and I don't want to spend a whole lot of $$$ for the paint job.
The other one, my brother built, the "Scout" project is all bedlined with door jambs and everything.
Don't really care for green but that is way Sweet looking!

Should be "done" pretty soon. Actually, the most time-consuming part is the paint and transmission and engine swap. The rest is pretty straight forward. Especially that I have almost all the parts here already or on the way. just the matter of putting it back together and time.
Who knows... TANK might come out to be complete turd lol

Paid the money for the good 3M wheel huh? I pretty sure I priced those before I ended up buying the more generic one. They were pretty expensive, relatively speaking, if I remember correctly.
I am pretty sure that will do what you need it to do.
Not a big fan of green but love the bedline look. Like those roof bars too.
I had a few pieces on my '00 Line-X'ed. I picked up some Factory Running Boards. They were green and I needed them to be black. Like you my guy said if I did all the prep work it would cost $150. $300 if he did it all.
Was shocked at the price. Got them Line-X'ed for $100. Love the look. Sorry I did not bedline them myself. Because now I just want to bedline everything on the Jeep. Did not realize how much I would love the look.
Doing that with Line-X would be pricey. And if I do other pieces myself it will not match the texture and color of the Line-X. I picked up rattle cans of all the various bedliners I could find. Going to run an experiment to
see if any might be close enough with the Line-X that won't make my OCD go into overdrive. LOL.
I found some time today to install the "hood pins".
I bought these on Amazon for only $30.
And I must say... I'm super impressed with the quality. It's nice, billet aluminum. Works great looks great.
ALso eliminated all the mess under the hood from the latch mechanism. Nice and clean.

That was the reason I bought mine. My release was super stiff, I was always afraid that I'm gonna break it.
And also it was rusty and ugly lol
Curious why you got the Clayton kit? Nice kit but why not fab your own and save the money?
So, the first reason why I bought the ready kit is, I wanted it fast because I have kind of a short deadline with this build (Jeep Beach 2019).
Second... Time is money. by the time I fab something that is equally good with the quality and looks good, I can do a bunch of other things that will push the project forward.
Third is that we, at Goliath Off Road, are Clayton dealers and friends with them, so we kinda want to support them too and run their kits on our jeeps. Plus it's a really good, proven kit and fairly inexpensive. provides just what I wanted for this build.
