Default Project Unya-"save the unicorn"

What I have here ladies and gents is a 99 4.0, 4x4, 5 speed, 2 door cherokee.
I payed $450 for it from the original owner.

Why so cheap? well thats right here

He Was driving it up to the time he sold it to me, with a valid PA inspection.... these pictures where taken after i removed a hitch, which was clearly what caused the frame rails to rust so badly versus the rest of the vehicle.

Anyway, We figured out that 2.5 x 2.5 .125 wall square tubing stacked and stitch welded together would suffice well as a replacement to the bad frame sections, the shackle boxes will be replaced with 3 x 5 .188 wall tubing.

right now she sits like this till this weekend when we start fabrication.

I do plan on making the shackle mount an inch lower, and adjusting it for a 45* shackle angle.

Welcome to the forum Mr.Hardcore. Looking forward to seeing how your rust replacement plan works out, that's a unicorn worth saving.

Welcome aboard sir.
If I recall, there is a thread, either here or in the fabrication forum, where a user details his complete removal of the frame rails, and replacement with a custom fabricated tube chassis for his XJ. I don't know your level of skill, but that may be an option, as opposed to repairing the existing structure.
