Project Round 2

Hello All,

I am starting a build thread for 2 reasons, 1) while building my first jeep I very much appreciated using these threads as inspiration and 2) I hope that as I log the progress the more experienced members will be able to help point out mistakes before I make them. My first XJ was a 2001 that I bought for $1500 bucks. The kid I bought it from couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and why it wouldn't stop overheating. I knew there was a hole in the freeze plug on the back of the head when I offered him 1500 cash for it and he took it. Head gasket kit and 1 freeze plug later she ran like a champ. Only problem was that I was 21 at the time and the only thing that mattered was how big the tires were and how loud the stereo was. I ran if for 6 years and ended up selling it before I got out of the Navy and moved to Mississippi. Since then I found a 1998 Sport for $800 that I intend on building the right way. Plans are to start from the inside out. Motor/trans/xfer case, then axles (shafts/gears/lockers) then suspension and other upgrades. I look forward to posting pictures of my old jeep and the new one that I am starting a search for a new cylinder head today as I found 2 pretty sizable cracks when I pulled it off today. Wish me luck.
