Project: Rooh
 

I have a 98 Cherokee(Cinnamon) that is fairly well built up but I never did a build thread on it as I never intended it going as far as it did. Now, in love with the Cherokee platform, I have picked up a clean stock 99 and plan to swap all of my gear from Cinnamon over to Rooh.

The 99 is a Limited. The body is near mint with one rust hole in the rocker. It appears that somehow that is the only area that was not rust treated as the rest of the Jeep is rust free, and has been treated with rust protection. The only draw back is that it has a D35 with LSD but it will work for now and when it fails, I will have my trusty 8.25 to put in. We have heavy Canadian winters so I am excited to have a 242. It will be a wheeling/overlanding build. I won't be taking it thrashing down tight trails or pinning it down dirt roads. Parts coming over from the 98 include 4.5" lift, shackle relocation brackets, ZJ tie rod set up, adjustable upper control arms and longer lowers, YJ extended brake lines, ZJ fan clutch, front and rear bumpers, fender flares, and much more. The beauty part is that I have done a lot of maintenance on the 98, but right now it has a banged up body and needs a new front diff/axle and a transfer case. Most parts on the 98 have been replaced within the past year or 2, so if anything fails on the 99, I will have an instant spare that is nearly new.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ccf10213a.jpeg

The first things I need to do are replace the harmonic balancer on Rooh, as well as 2 front wheel bearings. Once that is done, I will transfer the insurance over and start tearing Cinnamon down. I do not have any wheeling trips planned for a few months, so I might get one more trip out of Cinnamon before I shut her down.

One thing I am trying to figure out is snorkel/intake. I do not believe I need a snorkel up to the roof for any reason at all. The 98 has a cowl intake but I dislike the sound when on the throttle inside the cab. I would prefer it sound stock. Any suggestions on places to suck air from that are now inside the cowl. I could see mounting it the intake inlet end to the underside of the hood, so that the air is at least coming from the highest part of the engine compartment. I am not a race Jeep so I don't need a cold air intake, and I cannot see the air being much hotter there then it is from the stock airbox.
