Project resurection
I am starting a mild build on my 1998 jeep Cherokee limited that will consist of a 3 inch lift kit (not positive of brand but thinking zone), 30x9.5r15 tires and possibly a roof rack with lighting on down the road. The Jeep will be a daily driver and ride quality is somewhat of a factor. I am not a hardcore wheeler but I won't hesitate to take it for a mud or a trail ride. After abandoning the jeep in high school I've finally got it back in my possession. Considering it was outside for 3 years without being touched its in pretty good shape. Here's a shot of it as it sits currently, in stock trim.
I have a few questions for you xj junkies. I believe my transfer case is a 242 as it has full time/part time but more importantly if someone could identify the rear end that would really help. Here's a picture of the diff housing ( I suspect an 8.25)
I have heard of driveline vibration issues on just about all xj's with the 242/8.25 combo with lift so I'd like to identify these components before I begin on the suspension.
Also I believe the jeep has some kind of (possibly factory installed) shackle lift. Haven't looked at the front to check for spacers but here's a picture of the rear leaf spring mount
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The front windows are down in the previous pics. The drivers side actually broken out. Which I fixed this evening after getting a brown box from my folks place on the other side of town. It's dark out.
I have some pictures I will try to post a thread on the instal. It's pretty easy but It would only take a second if someone showed you how....

About time to update I suppose. The jeep is now road worthy, it took a lot of searching to find the driveline vibe but after replacing motor and tranny mount it sits quiet stopped in drive with my foot on the fat one. Also I was able to score a deal on some 31's and a 3 inch rc lift from a friend who upgraded to 6.5 long arms and 33's! Unfortunately it came with an aal for the rear which makes my rear end bounce a little. The cooper discover htt is a nice tire but it only measures to 29.5 inches and they sell it as a 31x10.5r15.

The tires and lift are really good looking on the jeep. But the aal actually added at least 3.5 inches and the front at 3. I need a coil spacer for the front I think. The aal is used so I would think it is all sagged out. It is however stiff.

Hey look who scored an old set of mt's AND a rusty old set of black steel xj rims! I kinda dig the old and beatup look of the rig right now. But I will be purchasing a "new" set of treadwright. Snapped some shots throughout the day.
