haha yeah, my friend in the yj lives in that neighborhood, and I try and resist the urge to "trespass" but it sometimes gets the best of me.

I finished trimming the driver side so far, and ordered some "Protekto Trim" as well so its getting there. And that's my buddy's taste as far as UNC goes, not mine. haha

Klavistata 09-03-2011 04:21 PM

Been a good bit since I posted last, but i've successfully completed...
-Trimming all the fenders pretty much as high as I could, then applying Protekto Trim around the rim of them.
-Replacing the plastic steps in the doors with custom diamond-plated ones.
-Finding a new cooling fan at the JY to replace my old one, and thus finally help alleve my overheating problem.

(Also I just started school a few weeks ago, so thats why my build is lacking updates and overall vigor, my b, blame the school system)

((oh by the way, I didn't decide to take pictures of my recent mods until i had gotten it muddy, oh well haha))

It's about summed up now. I did get a new sticker or too, but who cares haha.

Klavistata 09-03-2011 04:24 PM

Oh, my bad I forgot I did finally bedline the rear bumper black. But i've yet to get to the front, haha.

Went crawling for a bit at this cool spot that my buddy showed me, its got a pond in the middle, some little mud runs around the pond, and this hill to the left middle. Fun spot.

Oh and the hill shot from behind is pretty bad, and doesn't show how tall the hill is completely, but whatever.

To get a lower center of gravity! And I'm throwin 37 inch tires on her soon and will hopefully end up with a max of 4 inches of lift and linked front and rear
Your bumper looks great by the way I always wished mine was white instead of black

haha thanks man
To bad i cant actually start on it until next weekend because of work... then the real build begins :gunsmilie:
I wouldnt say superior... but ya all the help and criticsm makes for a more badass build!

Klavistata 10-20-2011 06:18 PM

I'm excited to see it man, and yeah you know what I mean, people with more experience and all, but yep i'm trying to get there ha, if it wasn't my daily driver i'd probably be taking a much different approach to the build.

Klavistata 10-20-2011 06:46 PM

I gotta few things to add to this, I went wheeling the other day with a few friends, and got stuck for the second time ever ha, my buddy towed me out with his cj-5....barely might I add haha.
http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...to10141142.jpg

Also, I was at the Skatepark the other day and parked next to this beast, I was pretty surprised to see a jeep like mine at the skatepark haha. Anyways it was huge, rolling on 35's and who knows what kind of lift, didn't figure out whose it was so I didn't meet the guy or anything but his jeep was a similar year to mine and pretty sweet. Sorry for how crappy the pictures are but all I had was my phone and it's pitiful to say the least.

http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...1015111710.jpg

Mines on the left, obviously ha, his was such a beast, made me feel wimpy when I pulled up haha.
http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...1015111711.jpg

Klavistata 10-20-2011 06:52 PM

Oh and I forgot to add on the hole that I got stuck in, I just was not thinking things through very well and didn't check it out beforehand ha. If i had gone straight through and not had one wheel up on the dry land I probably could have made it, but it was pretty deep, I'll find out next time though and update ya'll.

IZAREBL 01-02-2012 06:20 PM

updates??

Klavistata 11-11-2018 09:15 AM

UPDATE: Sorry I was out taking a piss.

Jeep is sitting in the parking lot at my parents house in SC. It's in rougher condition than my last update on here, but it's still the same jeep. Although not in current running condition, needs an oil filter adapter, and some oil. I don't live at home anymore, and don't have the time or space to take care of the 'ol PT anymore, so before my dad scraps it for a tax write-off I figured I'd offer it up to anyone here who might have the means and interest to take it off my hands. If you can bring a trailer and winch it up onto it, it's yours - completely free. It would make me much happier to see it go to a good home than to just get rid of it- it meant a lot to me growing up, and I learned a lot from it. I drove it all through high school, and my younger brother managed to drive it all through his high school years as well when I went off to college- my parents never imagined we would make it last that long, haha!

If anyone is interested, please PM me on here and we can coordinate. Also I'm sure you guys will have more specific questions about the state it's in, so ask away.

Tntxj 11-12-2018 12:41 AM

Just read through it all. Nice build. If I was not so far away i would be there with a trailer. Sorry it has to go. But I bet in time you will be back. Good luck.

Thank you! It was certainly a labor of love.

Attachment 403809 yesterday I went and rescued the fair lady and took her off to await some repair. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to bring her all the way back to greenville with me yesterday, but she is safe at a friends place near Charleston. I did have enough time to look the jeep over some and check some general item. Unfortunately she does have a blown head gasket and there is some noise from the bottom end when running. I hope to find a used 4.0 and drop it in. If anyone would like updates I can post them here, or I could make a new thread.

Attachment 403815 picked up the motor that will go in the Cherokee. Now I just need to get the Cherokee from where it's stored to my house and work on it.

The thing about a free vehicle is that it's never free. There are quite a few little issues that will need to be resolved before it can be driven somewhat reliably.

Attachment 403912 moved it from where it was stored 3 hours away up to my parents house where the heart transplant will take place. Cleaned it up a little and tried messing with the fog lights, but I think they're done for. Hopefully
I can start the heart transplant soon, but we'll see. I have a lot on my plate for winter break.

Started getting some stuff off, but it started raining. Got the rear driveshaft out which needs u-joints, got the warn lights off the front (I'll try to see if I can get them working again, but figured the extra room would be nice for pulling the motor), track bar bolt is loose, but I won't worry about it till I get the motor swap done. Attachment 403913
Started raining so I called it quits for the day. I'll probably just do a little at a time since I spend all day working on other people's cars.

Attachment 404331 just about ready to pull the motor out. I think I might call it a day and wait till I have a friend around to help guide it all out.

Attachment 404336 got the motor that's going in it torn down mostly. Swapping valve covers, water pump, thermostat housing, timing cover, doing the rear main seal, and re sealing the oil pan. Hopefully it'll be a leak free decently running motor. A few friends are coming over Saturday and I hope to have the old motor out and the new motor in by the end of the day.

Sovreighn87XJ 05-23-2019 02:57 PM

Nice, looking forward to the continued journey for this one, kudos for the rescue!

SatiricalHen 05-25-2019 10:33 PM

Got the new motor resealed, finished pulling the old motor and got the new one bolted in today. I was thinking about trying to finish it this weekend, but working 5 days a week at a shop and working on my own stuff on the weekends has kinda burned me out a bit. I may relax the rest of this weekend and slowly work on it after work some.

Oh, also forgot to mention the axle sitting in front of it will be going in. 29 spline 8.25 with ruff stuff diff cover and a lunch box locker. Nothing too special or great, but a small upgrade.

GreaseMonkey17 05-26-2019 11:52 AM

Let me know when you want to sell me one of these projects once you’ve got most the bugs worked out ;) I’ve got cash lol

SatiricalHen 05-28-2019 08:54 PM

Rear axle is just in by loose u bolts right now. Hardest part was getting the locking lug nuts off without the right socket. The u bolts just take so long to do by hand and my impact sucks and won't spin them off so I called it a day.

This is why I didn't become a mechanic. My dad had a lot of friends that loved cars, but didn't want to work on them when they got home. Sux man, but it'll be worth it in the end. But.... is there an end? lol
