Project Plum (87 Renix)

Well, I bought this hunk of metal from some craigslister pretty much bone stock. I recently found an awesome Napa connection that gets me parts for 15% above retail, so, naturally, I have just been buying stuff and changing out old parts. To date:
  • All new vacuum emissions hoses (failed, haven't been back for a retry yet.)
  • EGR Valve
  • Valve Cover Gasket (cleaned entire valce cover and inside a little)
  • Vacuum resovoir (the egg thing) replaced... ish. more like rerouted.
  • in-dash radio mount replaced... ready to accept what I have to offer.
Soon: (already have parts, just not the time yet)
  • Radiator hoses
  • Cat
  • a/c compressor fittings
  • Serpentine Belt
  • Transfer Case Drive Chain (HD variety)
Need:
  • Lift (prefer 4-4.5")
  • tires/rims
  • bumpers (looking very seriosly at the Hellraiser ones... especially if he can do one with a spare tire carrier.)
  • Radiator
  • horn (Harbor Freight, 9.99 for a air horn :) )
  • roof rack with spare tire carrier
  • PAINT with bedliner on the lower panels.
Any paint suggestions? My friends think I should keep the "plum" color.

Plum

I will do my best to add pictures throughout to see progress, and as a reference posting. I only hope I can be as useflul as some of the other members I have seen.

Well, yesterday a buddy and I spilt the transfer case with the intention of replacing the chain. It was in great shape, no teeth missing, and the inside was nice and clean. So, we replaced the front and rear differential gaskets and the rear universal joints. In the mean time, we found out that the rear end is a D44, not a D35 :)

Also, I had some old rims that were given to me by the guy I bought my jeep from. I cleaned them up a little and, thanks to an idea from these forums, painted them.

I think next will be the steering stabilizer, tie rod ends, and everything else I can think of to make that effing wobble on the front end go away.

Sounds like you've had a lot of headway. Good job man!

Thanks, like I said, I get a pretty good deal on parts recently so, if I even think for a second that it might need it... its getting replaced!

I'm partial to black but I'm also sick of washing it to keep it clean. There's a yellow XJ here in town and every time I see it I wish mine was yellow. Go with yellow.

I just realized, I was looking at the custom speaker boxes that Hellraiser does as well. I meant to say the BUMPER by littleleonard.
