got it for 1500 so im happy with it

on my list of things to do,

get a full 3" lift kit, previous owner did 2" springs in the fron and 3" blocks in the rear, so the 31s rub at 5mph at turns.

new 31s

roof rack

winch

and fix the rust

over all its a good truck and im happy with what i got for very little
been reading this forum for a few weeks and got alot of really good ideas

Nice Jeep man, should be a nice build. Test out those rear "recovery" points before allowing anyone to touch them and ditch the blocks.

how should I test them?

and for future reference I know nothing about jeeps haha, bought this for winter and became interested in modding it.

wrap a strap around a big tree, pull on it with the jeep. If it snaps off it wont kill anyone where as if it snapped on the trail it would kill someone.

Those type of recovery points are prone to failure and when they do someone is either hurt or in a body bag.

Will have to do that one of these days, I plan on doing all the fixing before I take it on any trails so ill be alright for now

I'd suggest cutting them straight off and putting in proper mounts then.

can you give me an idea of proper mounts?

OttawaXJ 11-17-2010 11:43 AM

This is what I use.

You cut straight through the bumper and weld it on both sides.

Di3soft 11-17-2010 11:48 AM

thanks man

OttawaXJ 11-17-2010 11:53 AM

No problem, its Much stronger, TMR customs has 4packs too.

I had 2 on the front and 2 on the rear, will be doing the same thing on my new XJ.
