Project: Money Pit
So a little bit about me and little blue here. I dont know if thats what Im naming her but ill go with that for now. I picked her up at an auto action...I had NO idea what I was getting into other than I knew she was meant for me. All I know is that she went into F/R and started. So I had a fun time getting her to start she wouldnt even idle on her own without someone on the gas...so right away I picked up a new battery and put it. I got her some new plugs wires the whole nine yards..got all of my fluids changed everything..& needless to say she runs a whole lot better now. I picked up a new cat, and turbo cherry bomb. I like it, its not too loud, it only grumbles now...

First off some lovely pictures of when I got her: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...49747186_n.jpg http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._1600564_n.jpg http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6844522_n.jpg (I painted 'em black in the end) http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1300000_n.jpg Jb weld has done great to stop the rust actually http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2442871_n.jpg http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3680753_n.jpg http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1433031_n.jpg |
Swapped in a new gas pump cause the old one wasnt working and get a new cluster.
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...0_721415_n.jpg http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1470514_n.jpg Then my baby blew here water pump. I first thought the block was craked. Noob mistake. http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1562824_n.jpg Pulled the whole front end to change the pump. Idk why I just wanted too. http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1328559_n.jpg Cleaned the throttle body http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3153378_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7639899_n.jpg http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7634794_n.jpg |
Injectors/staight piped/"heat shield" ( I wish I still had it:( )
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...6_958032_n.jpg http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5009119_n.jpg http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3205404_n.jpg Eveything is painted black and bed linered so dont worry about those black stops :whistling2: http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...32679746_n.jpg http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2710687_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5198221_n.jpg |
then came being doorless :thumbup1:
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1393821_n.jpghttp://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...5_173070_n.jpg http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2386235_n.jpg http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1271795_n.jpg Yeah that's grass I found growing INSIDE my rear bumper...I felt it was necessary to keep it, so watered it for a wile and stuff. I figured its only fair since me and my jeep have killed at least 2 polar bears. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...92312674_n.jpg |
Here a quick write up on the end caps I did for the my stock bumper..any questions just ask!
1. Remove the stock end caps. - Pretty easy over all; all of my bolt were seized up, so I said hell to it can used a knife and cut around the bolts and then just pulled em off. 2. (optional) Remove the stock bumper to make it easier to clean/paint http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...81621125_n.jpg 3. Put it back on. 4. Install Air Horn (optional) - VERY fun, VERY loud. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...87714755_n.jpg 5. Trim your "mud flaps" in the front I did mine on an angle - makes it look a bit better. (to me, Its not like anyone else really sees it haha) 6. Enjoy your "new bumper" - I got like 5 people to ask me if I had gotten a new bumper. http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...85329918_n.jpg 7. Mock up your new end caps you want http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...42464079_n.jpg 8. Make some mounts - As CRAPY as those welds look, theyre as good as I can get, its hard to sick weld, galvanized steel(?) seems to burn through super fast http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...52067295_n.jpg 9. Weld em up, screw, what ever, just attach it to your stock bumper, I chose welding...FYI the stock bumper melt REALLY easily and be careful on the Aluminum..the WHOLE piece gets really hot really quick, and will warp..mine did and ironically it fits better :bangin: . Do the spit test, spit on it, if it bubbles, its still to hot to touch with gloves.. (just a rule of thumb not always true btw) 10. Slap on some paint http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...30663642_n.jpg (I used bondo to fill the gaps and cracks..I have since them cleaned it up) http://hphotos-iad1.fbcdn.net/hphoto...31314498_n.jpg http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...81943069_n.jpg (I need new tires huh? :( ) 11. Step back and enjoy something your work. 12. Take some pictures and go brag about it on facebook/twitter 13. Drink a beer/Gatorade/water :drink: Thanks, Hope someone else here gets some good ideas and posts some pictures! *** anyone in the Ohio area (or anyone else for that matter) wants my front bumper (end caps included) Its all yours. (pay shipping/gas or come get it) I gonna make a big one for a winch since I'm liften my baby here soon :) |
