Project: low on green XJ
This weekend my girlfriend and I picked up this green 96 XJ sport for $900. It had a few problems, the biggest being a bad leak in the rear brake hard line. Her plans for it is to build a reliable daily driver with some very mild camping/trail use. With the fact she's a broke college student she doesn't have a lot of spare coin to throw into the jeep right now, hence low on green XJ build. This is her first vehicle and she wants to try and do everything she can herself to learn.
Picking it up in Fairfelid, NJ http://stillwater-photoworks.smugmug...77_gowdu-M.jpg Starting point. 96 XJ sport, Dana 30/35 combo with an NP231 http://stillwater-photoworks.smugmug...23_bFYQc-M.jpg First on the list was to fix the brakes, Napa rotors and pads up front as well as replacing 5 feet of the rear hard line along with the rubber line to the splitter on the rear axle. While we had the wheels off she decided to paint them as they were looking a little warn, a couple coats of hammer tone fixed that. We also fully detailed the interior, PO had dogs and was covered in dog hair, and gave it a nice bath. After a weekend wrench session http://stillwater-photoworks.smugmug...93_MQ5zF-M.jpg http://stillwater-photoworks.smugmug...66_4qS9o-M.jpg |

Very nice jeep for the money...Love the color..

little minor bump up. I just picked up an Ipod adapter for her. I'm also planning on pulling my sub and amp out of my 92 and building her a nice small box. Also going to do an H4 head light conversion to it so she can see better at night.
A true statement to Jeeps: This XJ sat for about a year before we got it. We fixed the brakes and she drove it from CT to Fla with 0 hiccups. |
Love your Xj ....like the black rim treatment...did mine also!!!

no major updates yet, going to be doing the neon injectors in the summer along with a new exhaust but here are a few more photos I have of it

so I've noticed a pattern of the hemi being in alot of the pictures.
|
at the time my XJ was not long distance capable and she lives 2 hours from me so drove the dodge. One of these days I'll get photos of the XJs together
|
I'll have to get her to take some new photos of it down in fla
But while i was down there last weekend we installed a set of Delta H4 head lights into it so she can see better at night now. And we're working on plans for the summer. Its going to be getting new sway bar bushings, a new exhaust, front d-ring tow hooks. not sure what else now but slowly its coming together |
pretty nice xj for 900, some ideas for it that are nice, and free are to get rid of the red trim on the rockers and chop the skirt off thats under the front bumper, imo it would look pretty sweet without the red and the skirt just makes it look a bit better:thumbup:
