Well painted the grill black yesterday, looks nice. Got in my jeep to go to school this morning and it wouldn't start. All the lights work, I can hear the fuel pump, but it doesn't do anything, no spark. I'm guessing that would be the starter? Still need to research more.

Yeah idk. I will go home after school and do some looking around. Looks like there's a pretty clear set of steps for determining what it is (of like 4 things). I'll check it out this afternoon

When turning the ignition over, if you can shift from park into reverse and it turns over, then it would be your Neutral Safety Switch. Which can get gunky and dirty and sometimes wont be able to read that it is in park and won't turn over. Happened to me and I tried changing battery cables, spark plugs, wires etc and didn't fix it. Then I cleaned the NSS, and bam all good.

thanks! I'll definantly check this afternoon, but when you say that, do you mean trying to crank it while in reverse or trying to start while shifting from park to reverse?

Have it in park and while the key is turned slowly pull it into reverse and if it is the nss it should turn over then.

It didn't crank at all? Then it would be your NSS. Do your reverse lights work (another sign your NSS is dirty)? My NSS is dirty and sometimes when it doesn't start in park, I shift it over to neutral and it fires right up. You should try that out

That aside, you have a nice looking rig! Definitely looks way better without the trim

Well good news! Got home and the jeep started right up. My mom said she also started it twice earlier today so I'm just going to assume it was a fluke with the nss. Thanks for all the help though.

Well if you feel like cleaning it, here's a simple how to. Doesn't take long either.

my 93 ZJ plays the occasional no start game... it all started by it not firing up once and now atleast once a month it doesnt want to start... but when it sits over night it fires right up the next day... Crank positioning sensor is most likely the suspect... that or moisture somewhere... but i hope yours was just a fluke.... anyways nice build and how much was that roof rack.. always wanted one on my 95 and i think im gonna break down and buy one for the my 96... but they are always priceyyy...
