Just remember to aim them
Dude. You have no idea how much it aggravates me when someone puts HID bulbs in non-projector housings.

had to aim them WAY down before I switched bulbs.. I lit up the entire section of freeway I was traveling down

30k is intense. The myth that they arent as bright at that high of a temperature is bull****. Just gotta put it in a projector housing.

sorry for the thread jack! last one

Are those High-Low housings? Or are they just On-Off? Is there a shutter in the projector?

I'm running 6000k in both my headlights and fogs. Fogs are a little blue on 35w ballasts, but my headlights are pretty much pure white on 55w ballasts. And then I have my 100w Hellas to throw into the mix.

Night wheeling much?

They are high and low housings, however I left the factory GMC high beams in. It didnt make sense to me to get ballasts and bulbs, just to wait for the HIDs to warm up when I need to do the "quick flash." People in Las Vegas just plain suck at driving, so the quick response time is more than necessary.

When you say shutters, you mean does one shut off and the other come on?

No. If you look into the lens of my projector, you'll see a little spring thing towards the top (projector is upside down). That's the shutter mechanism that makes the headlights have a clean cut-off when on low and then it moves the shutter to give an unrestricted high beam. The bulb never turns off (stays on for high and low). Which means I can flash people!!

At least they're much better than the stock halogen junk that my Jeep had before. I like seeing where I'm driving. Lol.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took my valve cover off to check the rockers and make sure that non were loose or flopping around. Made sure they were torqued to spec. And then put the valve cover back on.

Snapped a valve cover bolt in the process of putting the cover back on.. Good thing I had a bolt that was the right size and thread pitch to use until I get a new one from either the junkyard or the stealership.

Need a new silicone elbow to put the intake back on.

But the good news is that IT RAN!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing blew up, so I guess that's a good sign.

I made them.

Projectors were acquired from China.

Any update on the tuning? I'm curious whether continued driving and varied conditions have brought about a CEL or any other tuning issues. Keep us posted.

Thanks!

I haven't changed the tuning yet. My dad is off this whole week, so we're going to finish all the little things on the Jeep and look at the tuning software and maybe play with the timing.

No CELs. Engine is running great. Lol. City driving, mild acceleration, WOT, etc. No problems at all.

Hopefully going to have the shift kit installed sometime early this week.
