Finally getting some work done!

Removed the bumper and endcaps [which were troublesome since the PO had riveted them to the bumper... :brickwall:]

Started to redo my projector install and put the ballasts in the grille [scratch that. I mounted them by the horns].

The last pic is about as far as I got before I had to throw the grille and headlight buckets back on to protect everything from the rain. Mother Nature just will not cooperate with me. :cursing: So now my Cherokee is sitting in the driveway half naked and missing a headlight... And I broke some of the fasteners holding the front bumper on. Gotta go to Lowes and get some washers and lock nuts. :brickwall::wallbash: And paint the grill, headlight buckets, endcaps, and bumper satin black. :brows:

Should have the 7th injector back from being flowed by the end of the week. Then all I need is a swivel socket and I can put the Gibson headers and start installing the supercharger!

Then it's all just a matter of finishing all the other little projects I have going on with this thing. Lol.

In other news, I think a JCR front bumper (maybe rear too] is in my near future with a integrated hitch, foglights, and d-rings. :euro: Probably going to lose my bullbar though if I get new bumpers.. [decided against it. Keeping the stock bumpers and the brush guard (love that thing)]

And I might be doing something special with the front blinkers soon too... :shifty::whistling2:

Okay. Not much to update since it's either raining or threatening to rain today and is supposed to rain all week... So the Jeep looks exactly the same as it did yesterday and I refuse to work on high voltage electronics in the rain. I don't like getting electrocuted.

The other projectors finally got here so I can make up a couple of retrofit kits. The HID bulbs for my foglights also arrived so I played with those for bit. They're REALLY REALLY BRIGHT!!! :icon_eek:

Please ignore the fact that they look blue in this pic. It is very difficult to photograph the true color. They're closer to white in real life.

35w HID vs. 50w halogen both powered by a jumpbox.

Yup. Unfortunately. I'll have to try and take a better picture when I finally install them. Hopefully the natural light outdoors will make them look closer to their actual color. Idk.

Another piece to the never ending puzzle known as my Cherokee just got here. GOMLsaurus. :gunsmilie:

15 different flash modes and I can only use one of them on the street... "steady on".

Cherokee isn't going to get a whole lot of progress cosmetically for a little while since I'm waiting on some parts. Just ordered a power block to clean up my wiring, some inline fuses, and 50w ballasts for my projectors. Guess the front end will have to stay apart for a little while longer... :cursing:

My dad has three days off [in a row] coming up next week [iirc], so we're going to try and install the supercharger then. This is going to be fun. :batman:

So I have to ask, How well do you like your MTR's and how are they on the road? I'm thinking about ordering some 31's myself here soon and wanted another opnion on them

I really like them. They perform great on the road and have nice road manners (about as loud as run-flat tires). They're not the best in the rain, but the fact that I have an open rear diff and a heavy right foot might have something to do with that. :naughty: They also ride surprisingly smooth on the road.

I'd definitely recommend them over the 31" BFG KM2's that I had before.

Mine are 32" MTRs w/ kevlar btw.

Very nice, tidy XJ. Keep it up.

Thanks! I try my best. Lol. I'm really enjoying modding it. :w00t:

UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I accomplished yesterday and today. :D

Got the supercharger fully installed (for the most part) and tested. IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/ha...ankenstein.gif

Until she started to eat her serpentine belt... *facepalm* :brickwall::wallbash:

Tomorrow I gotta get some new bolts for the belt tensioner that don't stick out as far as the stock ones, wire in the AEM F/IC 6, wire in the boost gauge, wire in the dual temp gauge (for measuring air temp pre and post S/C), finish my projector retrofit, install and wire my HID fog lights, reinstall my Hellas, paint some stuff, reassemble my front end, and put the bullbar back on, retrofit in the overhead console, and some other mods that I'm forgetting at the moment.

Then all I have to do is download the AEM tuning software, put a basic tune on it, drive on the street and see how it feels and maybe go into boost, and then get it dyno tuned.

I'll take a video of it running and driving at some point and post it here. :euro:

And now... LOTSA PICS!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't.Laugh. My Volant CAI wouldn't clear the hood so I had to go to Pepoys to get these... At least they're Spectre. Lol. I'll be ordering a Spectre cowl induction kit and some silicone elbows to replace these soon.

Video will happen, but I don't think anyone wants to see me grannying it around since I don't have the AEM pigyback or a tune on it atm... Might be a week or two before I can get some WOT hoonage going on. Lol. :tooth:

Tell ya what though, I not going to be getting anywhere near the 17mpg you're getting. That's for sure. Lol. I averaged about 9mpg pre-supercharger... :devil2:

bpas328xi Jun 2, 2012 02:52 AM

Okay. I can't sleep and I'm bored which means you guys are getting some more pics. Lol. :tt2:

Here is my projector retrofit that I've been working on. It has CCFL angel eyes. I'm running 55w balasts, 4300k bulbs and I still have high beam.

For the record, these are NOT Morimoto projectors. Their kit is way overpriced and requires extensive modifications to the headlight housing and hacking the area behind the headlight to get them to fit.

My retrofit is using different projectors (still good quality and still from China [lol]) and requires ZERO modifications to the Jeep and is almost 100% plug-and-play (angel eyes need to be wired into a switched 12 volt source and the + for the projectors needs to be attached to the battery) but there is absolutely no hacking of sheet metal or headlight housings required and no cutting of the stock headlight harness. :tt2: to the h8rz.

These pictures were taken during a thunder storm (we were on tornado watch) through a foggy windscreen (didn't turn on the defroster) and the Jeep is at about a 30 degree angle to the garage, so keep that in mind. I let them warm up for a couple of minutes before taking these photos. They are incredibly bright. I can't wait to try them on the street.

High beam

I hope to have the front bumper back on and hopefully have my HID fog lights fully wired in by the end of the day tomorrow (assuming it isn't raining). If not, I'll just go looking for flooding and take pictures of that. Lol.

I'll take photos of the projectors (OEM) in my other car tomorrow night (high and low beam) just for comparison's sake.

I also have the crazy idea of putting the seats out of a C5 Corvette in my Cherokee. They're just so darn comfortable!!! And they hold you in the twisties. ;) Whether this will happen soon or not remains to be said, but the stock seats aren't the most comfortable seats I've sat in... (base model 2011 Camry seats are the worst so far and gave me back pain for a few days lol [it was a loaner while my car was getting it's cracked valve cover replaced]).
