I also have a 96 cherokee classic that has cruise control that I can steel it from to do the job. But would like to know how you did it? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.
For the servo, you have to splice the plug from the 96 cherokee into the newer cherokee harness (the colors are the same) The grand cherokee wheel is off of a 98 iirc. To use it you have to get the GC clockspring with the wheel, modify the top part of the clockspring housing to fit the cherokee. You also have to get the steering column side plug and repin your harness into the plug because the Cherokee one is a 4 pin plug and the GC plug is 5 pins and the wiring is completely different. If you do choose to use the GC wheel, make sure to check your connections because you have to keep your airbag wired properly. Just use a multimeter and go slowly. I think I made a cruide wiring diagram, I'll see if I can find it and upload it. |
Alright, cool thanks man.

Went to see The Hunger Games tonight, so no progress. Lol.
I'll take a picture of how I wired the plug tomorrow because my diagram is... iffy since I had no idea what did what until I was done wiring it. :sweatdrop: Oddly enough, I think Jeeps are attracted to my Cherokee... :cool2: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...-40-custom.jpg https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...-58-custom.jpg ^^There's actually a 1st gen Cherokee behind this guy. Lol. He went out of his way to park between us. :thumbup1: |

I definitely would appreciate it. My old 96 cherokee classic had cruise control and I used it alot while driving on the highway. But now with my new 99 cherokee classic I bought,... id like to put cruise control in it since it didn't come with it. That's funny about all the jeeps wanting to park nest to yours. That's usually how I am when I park. If there's another jeep I'll go park next to it. Lol. Us jeeps got to stick together.:thumbup1: |
Okay. Sorry I didn't get these up yesterday, but I spent the whole day fixing my computer. :brickwall::wallbash:
GENERAL DISCLAIMER!!!!! YOU ARE MESSING WITH YOUR AIRBAG!! If you are uncomfortable with this, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I am NOT responsible for any injury to personnel or damage to property caused by an exploding airbag or improper wiring. From left to right: cruise, cruise, airbag + (this is how it should look when put into the GC plug. And there should be two empty pins between the cruise wires). The cruise control wires look VERY similar in color. (That or I'm colorblind :001_huh:). In theory, it shouldn't matter which way you hook them up. IIRC, the one on the left was black w/orange tracer and the other one was black w/red tracer. In case no one was paying attention (lol) THE RED WITH GREEN TRACER WIRE IS THE AIRBAG POSITIVE WIRE!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a second pair of wires separate to these wires (black and green) and they are the horn wires. I just stripped the ends and shoved them into the original plug and wrapped it in electrical tape (has held up fine so far :thumbup1:). The way you disassemble the plug is to use a small flat head screwdriver (or similar pokey object) and disengage the clips holding the red piece of plastic in. With the red plastic removed, you should be able to disengage the pins. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...-53-custom.jpg And this is what a Grand Cherokee wheel looks like on a Cherokee. :thumbup1: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/member...-55-custom.jpg

Really makes me want 40" tall tires, lockers, prorock 60s, front and rear winches, fiberglass fenders and bedsides, a roll cage, AND MOAR LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In all honesty, I'm probably going to eventually replace most of my lights with LED ones. :euro: At least I know what to ask Santa for for Christmas. :guns: |

just got real....I was wondering why you were messing around with the dyno.

I want to make sure everything is OK before we start this project. Still want to upgrade the ignition and plugs, check the Banks revolver header for clearence on the new intake manifold and if it will fit, get it installed along with the '99 intake and 703 injectors. Then redo the dyno and try the Superchips controller and it's programs while it is on the dyno. Then pull the intake and start the supercharger install, test, tune, and reDyno it. Plenty to do and work always gets in the way.

Not really an update, but I got some bling. Gibson ceramic coated headers (got a killer deal) to replace the banks revolver headers (don't fit the supercharger intake manifold).
