What RE lower control arms do you have?
This 2 door I have has the heim joint control arms and it rides like a dump truck....
Wanted to see what's your take on them if you have them?

They seem to do pretty well but my shocks contribute to a harsher ride than anything. I do want to ditch them entirely for Teraflex or Rusty's adjustable uppers and lowers.

What shocks are on your two door?

In other news, the Geolanders I put on needed to be balanced. Experienced death wobble again. $35 later and it seems to be okay but is still a bit skidish. Kinda weird as with the MTs, it was solid as a no matter what. My muffler also decided to separate from the exhaust. Not much, just enough for their to be a crack. Under load while moving, it sounds silly. Like it's blowing a raspberry.

I just swapped some stock shocks for the front because the old shocks that it had were unusable what I might do is swap the rears and see how that goes...thanks...

 

Yesterday was pretty Jeepish. Woke up early and was surprised to find my favorite exhaust shop was open. $200 later and they fixed this:


... with a complete 2.25" Flowmaster cat back. I honestly don't know what style of Flowmaster it is but at 2.25", it isn't loud at all - just enough to have a nice grumble and it sounds like it's getting broken in quickly. I'll get an exhaust clip of it today. Pretty pleased to be honest.

After that, I went up to Windrock ORV park. This was my first time there and at a ORV park period. It was also the first time I really wheeling in the mountains with the rig - no more flat Florida mud for me.

Did some G trails but got a bit bored so tried some of the moderates. 27, 27A and 26. Pretty impressed to be honest as if I would have looked at pictures of the trails before, I would have said it's not getting up or down that.

This was my first time dealing with rocks. I gotta say, the technical negotiation is a lot more taxing yet rewarding than just going "power" up a muddy hill which, if I'm honest, is pretty fun too.

All in all, twas a good day. Nothing broke and didn't get stuck once. I was very impressed with the Jeep even on 60% all terrains. I do really need better disconnects though. Mine are just not conducive to quickness.

 

Cleaned her up today and did some more stuff. Finally got around to installing the Lund I bought a while ago and replaced my tail light housing.

I'm still getting some bump steer that's really damn annoying, even after balancing these wheels. I'm thinking something is just wrong with the Geolanders/sundials as my Guard Dogs/ECCOs never, ever, ever caused death wobble. I'm going to swap them tomorrow and investigate.

If the Guard Dogs take care of it, I'll just keep them and look for some 15x10 wheels for some backspacing.

 

Death wobble and bump steer are different things. The rims and tires shouldn't have much to do with bump steer. That is generally caused by your track bar and drag link angles being too far off. Death wobble can be caused by a ton of different things.

 

My bad - it's death wobble. It only started happening after I swapped wheels & tires. I've looked at my track bar and drag link and nothing looks bent or damaged. My track bar is a double shear unit too.

I'll ultimately find out when I put the Treadwrights back on.

 

Appears like I'm keeping the Treadwrights. No more death wobble.

I think it's just those old aluminum rims...
When I had my turbines I never got them to balance...I've always had death wobble from 35-55 mph and it sucked....
Until I picked up the d-windows and the tires balanced well...

 

Might be just the condition of the rims. My turbines never had a balance issue and ride fine for me.

Got these a couple of days ago. Sold the Geolanders and picked up 5 wheels with tires for the same price. Not bad and they look amazing.

Despite being 30x9.5s, they ride so smoothly but I took it up to about 65-70 and damnit, death wobble. I'm not sure but these could need a balance or there's actually something wrong with the front end. My goal today is to score V8 ZJ tierod and drag link and rebuild that for a swap. My swaybar bushings are SHOT so I'm curious if if that could be the culprit too.

If I find a WJ swaybar at the jy, I'll get that too and do that swap with new bushings as well.

 

Wj sway bar doesn't fit on our xj's...it's the v8 zj sway bar you want...

Yep. Hence why I bought it! Its so beefy! I also bought all-new Moog V8 ZJ tie rod, adjuster sleeve, and tie rod end. Everything's off and ready to be installed today. Fingers crossed I don't mess my alignment up too bad.
