But the fact of the matter is, the length really won't change and the stock will get you by until you decide to upgrade.

Swap and Dana 30 should never go in the same sentence. Especially if you are doing a big lift with bigger tires.
If you swap anything, swap in a waggy Dana 44 in the front and save yourself the hassle of dealing with a D30 in the front.

the D30 can hold up to 36's if you build it right. i think the only weak part of the 30 is the hubs, so people usually replace them with the warn ones.

You'd have to put a truss over the diff, run full chromo shafts and replace the hubs to get it even worthy. For all of that work, just put in a D44.

Just installed my new RockHard 4x4 rear bumper tonight. I love how it's 1/4 plate and it wraps around the rear quaters. I'm going to use that as my starting point for when I do my tube fenders. I'll weld the tube to it and then bend it up and then attach it to my new AJ's Offroad Rock Sliders that will be here this week.... Then complete it with some sheet metal, weld that up, grind it smooth then paint them black to match the bumpers and rock rails.

Rock Sliders from AJ's Offroad Armor came in today!
...So here are the rock sliders just mocked up in the garage... I have to trim the front mount down so that we can weld it to the Rusty's long arm bracket. Then these are going to be my basis for my front and rear tube fenders. Can't wait!
Here's a mock up pic of how they should look installed....

Very nice jeep. All though I wouldn't be caught dead running a 8" lift on mine, I love the way you are going with your project. I'm going to be staying tuned because we have similar ideas going on.

Selling them cheap! I have 4 (brand new) literally bought them in August... 15x10 - 5 x 4.5 Cragar Soft 8's for sale now. They don't have a single scratch on them and they are in perfect condition. That reminds me that I have to order my 6 lug Soft 8's today... If anyone wants them... let me know.

Got my rear disc brake kit installed last night on my Waggy D44 for the rear... Now I have to figure out what to do for an e-brake since there is no cable attachment for this kit. I might do a pinion brake or a yoke style brake off of the NP231's output shaft. That would give me 6:1 better stopping force over a brake at the wheels. I just have to fab up a bracket or find a company that makes one.
Sorry for the pic quality. I took the pics with my Blackberry... didn't have my camera on me.
Here's the finished product that's ready to go into the Jeep... she's sexy! Specs are 89 Wagoneer Dana 44 rear axle, 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern
with an Ox Locker and Yukon 4.88 gears.
