Default Project frankenstein

Finally got the ball rolling on my new xj build. Couple weeks ago I put my 4.5in lift on

Project frankenstein-image-4048496951.jpg

Since I work in the oilfield I don't get to many days off so I rolled around on 28s for a while just got some new 33x12.50x15r duratraks and some black creager rims. I'll post some picks tomorrow.
My plans for this beast are:
•ripping out carpet
•start tearing into the dash to build my new dash and center console
• remove steering wheel and installing new removable steering wheel
•chop the whole top off and start my cage
• find some dana 60s and full rebuild them
•buy some coil overs
•buy 4 links for front and rear
•order clayton 8in lift
•new tires
After all that is installed I'm buying a 5.3 vortec to swap out the 4.0

I'll post pics when I can be sure to subscribe

Finally got time to post some pics. Got some 33x12.50 and some black steel wheels to tide me over till I get my new lift. Project frankenstein-image-2084003923.jpg Project frankenstein-image-201414180.jpg Project frankenstein-image-1506792532.jpg I also ripped out my carpet. Project frankenstein-image-3225051913.jpg Project frankenstein-image-1257309715.jpg Project frankenstein-image-986198398.jpg I was starting to change out my steering wheel with a new psc steering wheel with a quick disconnect Project frankenstein-image-2008867845.jpg Project frankenstein-image-3321848416.jpg This is what I started with Project frankenstein-image-2859801154.jpg Got the air bag out Project frankenstein-image-52725057.jpg Didn't have time to finish it but I got a good start just need to move some of the electrical crap around. Really need to start my dash so I can relocate the turn signals, hazards and I don't know what I'm doing with the wiper switch cause I'm taking the window out but not till the dash is done.

The 33's look much better than the little donuts! Interested to watch this steerin wheel conversion. Good job so far, wire wheel that floor rust down and throw down some bedliner to keep it from coming back.

lol, It's going to be interesting watching you deal with the clock spring with that new wheel. I'm pretty sure I would have left the wheel on it.

Also, why an 8" lift? That's huge.

Also, why did you buy a 4.5" lift if you intend to buy an 8" lift.

I don't get it. your plan is to get coilovers, and 4 links front and rear, AND a suspension system from Clayton?

ya it's being a pain in the *** but I'll figure it out. The 8in is still kinda up in the air I'll see where I stand once I redo the rear end and the front fenders I need to have good clearance for my 37s to 40s haven't decided on a tire size yet wait to see how it sits. I got the 4.5 just to tide me over I hate being stock.

ah I see. nice kits they have. you'd probably do very well at 6.5" over stock for 40" tires. I'm running 5.5" and 37's and the tires stuff perfectly. cut your fenders front and rear and you'll clear just fine. you don't want to end up on 16" co's when you should've been on 14's. definitely looking forward to seeing how this build turns out

ya on the fenders I'm cutting all the metal off of the frame in the back and making rear fenders way higher. The front fenders are coming off and be made from scratch when I do my cage. Cutting the whole roof off too
