Project - "Finally Ours"

So after having to get rid of my old Cherokee: (3" Rusty's OR-Fab front and rear bumpers 31" tires and lots of structural rust)

My Girlfriend and I decided to get a Cherokee that would be ours and after MANY plans and fallouts and searching we finally found this (pic taken where we picked it up):
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j..._1921741_n.jpg

It's a 1999 Cherokee Sport 4.0, aw4, np242, hp30, 8.25, pw, pl, pm, cruise...and 206,000 with a cylinder 6 misfire and evap leak and needing front end work and brakes...$750 then another $150 for a friends friend w/ a trailer...oh and it's red like we always wanted my old one to be...

So we get her home a week after we look at her and first things first flares off and side moldings:

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j..._5863282_n.jpg

Then semi-moldy carpet out:

Then we took the super crusty front bumper off:
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...9_503769_n.jpg

then took rear off and discovered the only real rust on the jeep (other than surface on rockers, passenger doors, and above windshield) on the lower quarters but we are going to cut and fold them anyways...and we put on the OR-Fab rear bumper (i sold the front to my friend since i wasn't a huge fan of it):

So for now we are going to do maintenance which we started on: tune-up, battery, wheel bearings, brakes, etc... But plans include 4.5" Rusty's Offroad lift kit with their long-arms with 33x12.5x15 BFGoodrich KM2's on 15x10 Soft 8's which will be painted gray...

How was taking the carpet out of the XJ? Mine has been horribly stained every since I purchased the XJ, and I feel like it's time to retire it. Before starting though I've gotta make sure I can replace it with something cheap :D

i love that front bumper on my jeep wonder who i got it from haha you should do black rims tho itll match the rear bumper future marker lights better to bad you dont have a pic of how bad your front bumper was i never seen one that rusted

chad it was really easy just pull the front seats and center console rip that section out then pull the rear section cut it behind the rear seat and pull those halves seperately...and stealth gray will look good i promise you it will give some contrast to the red and black thing just think imagine it...

Sweet, i'll probably take a shot at it eventually. Now, time to find new carpet!

mcguyver_xj 07-06-2011 07:39 PM

Didn't do much today tried installing the new coil as it would not start after new tune-up and spark test showed a weak spark (orange should blue) but couldn't remember where which ground wires went where on the bracket...anyone got a pic?

hopefully tomorrow it will start then i can jack up the front end and see what we need.

mcguyver_xj 07-07-2011 09:38 PM

thanks Rhutchinson....got quoted for my lift today even though it will be a couple months before its ordered but looking at just short of $1800 for 4.5" coils and leafs, shocks, steering stabilizer, stainless braided extension lines front and rear, hd trac-bar and bracket, and long arm set-up with shipping of over 300 lbs.

mcguyver_xj 07-09-2011 09:48 PM

hopefully sometime tomorrow can get a battery in it and see if it starts might need new cables and terminals then to start on front and and back brakes...

mcguyver_xj 07-10-2011 05:54 PM
