im in the process of swapping mine now, not too bad, working on the trans bolts that are a PITA! I found a used motor that was actually fresh rebuild for $300.00. so Ill have more time in it then anything, but it will be worth it, the old motor now knocks like crazy and has no oil pressure. GL with the new motor

In the mean time researching what motor/trans to get. i really want to buy something new (warranty) either rebuilt 4.0 like "jasper" or rebuilt motor bored over to 4.7. havent even reaserched what kinda trans to get yet.
any ideas or tips would be great.

I think this is the way to go... Unless you swap in a V8.

i love them in the mud, i mostly did mud in the beginning and they clean out very well. no problem digging holes either just gotta watch out for stumps, so lots of traction sand had me stopped up pretty good a few times though.
they seem to be pretty good crawling too, went to Stagg Hill a place in north jersey and had no problem with any trail i tried.

Got some work done cleaning this weekend
Figured id start tearing down the old block and cleaning/painting the parts im going to reuse. At the same time figuring out what i need to order parts wise.
Found a hole in the block that was hidden by the exhaust manifold... not getting my core money back $900 gone
got the new motor mounted on the stand and finished tearing down the old one

Cleaned intake minifold
and after a bunch of super clean and an hour or so of elbow grease, the intake manifold looks brand new

The piston lacked lubrication, guessing the oil pump fail, causing a huge amount of heat and stress on piston #3. the skirt failed first than shortly after the rod "exploded" i pulled all the pistons out of the old engine. i forgot to take pictures. i will on Friday though. The piston is mangled pretty bad.
