oh nice, did you get the front xj shaft from the junk yard? if so what did that cost ya?

I'm thinking of doing the IRO hack and tap and then use a stock xj front shaft for the rear

I actually picked it up from a local forum member. I got his exhaust and drive shaft for $20! I have new spicer u-joints for the shaft that im going to get working on before it gets installed.

Well, I went into the shop last night and took a look at whats left of my rockers. Looks like im going to have to add some metal on the drivers side in order to get my new 2x6 rockers in..... The passenger side looks like ill be able to find enough, but i may have to tie them into the unibody stiffeners.

Man... I love that you just keep fixing all the rotted out areas, Instead of starting with a new rig.
Just a heads up.. check out hooligan offroad they make a 2x6 slider mount to accomplish what you are doing right there. If I remember correctly it is not horribly priced. If anything it will give you an idea of how to possibly tackle it.

Thanks! Its been alot of work, so id hate to have to start all over lol.

I did find these, and that may be the route i end up going, unless i just make some. But for $125 it may be worth getting them. Its basically exactly what i need to make it work. So not a huge deal in the end

Exactly what I was thinking of. Ya I feel they are priced right.
If I did not have the access I have to equipment and such I would just buy them for sure. But lucky for me I can do all that at work.

Its definitely nice to have those perks! Depending on the price, I may get some angle iron from the place im picking up my 2x6 from, and just drill some holes for rosette welds, then go off of that. But if the price isnt much different, ill just order those lol. Either way it will be nice to weld them in properly, and get rid of all that old rocker rot down there!

I just bought some 1/8" angle, cut to shape the backing plate that the 2x6 fits against like a mini stiffener and welded everything up. Better contact patch for welding vs the way the Hooligan Offroad product faces and much much cheaper.

Ya but yours does not have the bad **** brass knuckles on the endcaps....
Not hard to make something work there, That is just 1 option.

Thats exactly what i was planning on. I priced out some 2x2 angle yesterday, and it was like $37 for 12 feet of it. Thats a heck of a deal. Now i just need to drive the truck to work one day so I can pick it all up, then spend some quality time with the grinder and welder!

Well last night i replaced my windshield washer motor, since it hadnt been working for a year or so, and with driving it in the snow, i figured it would be a good thing to have.

I also replaced my roached transmission crossmember. I smashed it on a rock garden last year, and ever since i had some pretty nasty vibrations from 20-30mph. I was going to wait to replace it until I did the hack-n-tap, but it was super annoying, so I just did it.

Well i went into the shop the other day and noticed a leak around the rear of the jeep. Seems my rear diff cover seal decided to give.

I think its about time i start looking at a rear locker since im going to have to pull the cover anyways.......

Aussie, locked my 8.25 in 2 hours from park to driving again. Hardly can tell it on the road, just makes some noise

I have a powertrax-noslip in my 8.25, It's nice. Got it when I bought the axle.
