update: my local junkyard got a ton of the cash 4 clunkers cars in so they had an "all you can carry" sale today for $75.00 so i went and picked up a few things
first a 99 intake manifold and fuel rail along with the powersteering pump and bracket for it. (well worth the 75 in my opinion by itself)

some leaf springs off of a late 90's S10 that are in great shape for my 4" bastard pack lift. and also a nice front driveshaft that im going to use for my SYE conversion.

and finally some 2010 JK Rubicon shocks with 150 miles on them that i got from work for....free

-Installed my 99 WJ intake and powersteering pump

old n crappy...

old manifold off...

little comparison of the new vs old...

new manifold installed...

feels like a little more power in the higher RPMs...and definitely sounds better at full throttle...

so all in all im happy with the power improvement and having the better (easier) belt tensioner now.

ordered my rustys 4" coils today...so the lift will be going on this sunday

Gillette1987 03-26-2010 06:41 PM

very nice, cant wait to see what you come out with! Not often I see a 2 door cherokee around here

Gillette1987 03-26-2010 06:43 PM

would a newer intake system bolt onto any year 4.0? or is there some machining needing to be done... or would the vaccume hoses pose a problem?

it should bolt to any 4.0. (Renix is a lot more involved though) but yea you've got to find a different way to hook up all the vacuum lines and swap over your IAT sensor and TB, along with your fuel rail and injectors. also, if you use the newer pump/tensioner you have to cut about an 1" off of the timing sight hole and remove your old idler pulley

Finished making my passenger door removable today.. should be doing the driver side tomorrow or Monday

N20jeep 04-02-2010 07:31 PM

alright, so put the lift in last weekend (ill take some pictures tommorow)...and the ****er ended up alot higher than i planned. front and back are currently sitting 5 1/2 inches taller than when i started....oops

but, after a 1 1/4" TC drop, i have NO vibes

this is from rustys 4.5" coils and the bastard pack in the back.

the rubicon shocks are installed in the front with my homeade BPE's. i still need to finish the rear shocks because 3 out of the 4 bolts broke and the last bolt was welded by the previous owner. and i still need to make the new lower control arms.

N20jeep 04-03-2010 06:33 PM

All of the rubicon shocks are installed...

Wow, I have the same Jeep as you except it's a 96. It's a black 2-door with tan interior with a 5 speed. Even the same wheels. The only difference is that I have an 8.25 rear and cut fenders on a 2" lift. It's nice to see another 2-door around here. The lift looks good, but you NEED some bigger tires. How hard was it bashing out the upside passenger side hinge pin to make the door removable? Keep up the good work

Yea I've got some bigger tires. I'm just still trying to find some 16" wheels for it.

The passenger side isn't to bad. I just hammer the bottom of the hinge out like the driver side. Then I just cut the pin out of the piece so I can reuse it.

and i plan to finish making the drivers door removable. so long day ahead
