So I was looking at the No Lift H.D. Offroad shackle relocation brackets you mentioned. Would you recommend using a stock shackle or extended shackle? How did you like the RC CA drop brackets? I've been looking at several lift companies over the last 6 mos. or so. I think I have my mind made up on the Rough Country 4.5 x-series. It seems to have every thing I need for a 4.5 lift other than a SYE and CV Driveshaft. With the Rusty and Zone lifts the price really jumps out of my price range if I want to add the adjustable CAs and some of the other bits. RE, Skyjacker, BDS or all way out of my price range. I want to run 33s honestly and trim out for the Bushwhacker flat flares. I may settle for 32s not quite sure on that yet. I know running 32s would be the cheaper option but damn 33s look great on a lifted XJ.
As far as lifts, I don't know where you're looking but the Rusty's equivalent of the 4.5x series is $200 cheaper than RC, and Rusty's Advanced 4.5" kit is the SAME price as the 4.5x series.
Don't get RC. Don't get me wrong they have some parts I like; extended brake lines, sway bar discos, some other stuff. But their suspension stuff is NOT up to par with Zone or Rusty's. That Advanced 4.5" Rusty's kit is way more complete than RC, offering you both upper AND lower CA's. If you don't ever plan to go higher than you don't NEED adj CA's, although they are better for making adjustments to the front end.
I don't ever recommend a "kit" to anyone however. It's been my experience that for a couple hundred more, say $1000, you can make the best "kit" by piecing stuff together.
Buy Rusty's coils and leafs, buy IRO adj CA's, HD no lift brackets (or the ones that provide lift if you account for it in overall suspension height), extended shackles (BDS/JKS/NOT RC HAHA), and get RC extended brake lines, and whatever quick discos you want. Buy this stuff on sale days and with coupon codes and it will most certainly be the same price as any "kit" you see online.

Thanks for the input. You're right I'm not totally sure what I want to do lift wise yet. That's why I'm asking so many questions. I hope I'm not bugging you too much but your build has really inspired me.
I like the idea of piecing together a lift. Heard lots of good things about IRO stuff. I'm going to head over to their site and check them out.
Thanks again for your time.

Got the HD Offroad beads thrown in today, seems to be smooth up to 55mph for the most part. Had some shimmy, but prob due to having the tires aired to 20psi. I'm trying to work the side wall's in a little before some light wheeling this weekend. Going to test everything out!
I had 10oz put in each tire:

Got my jeep christened today! Maiden wheeling voyage turned out to be a big success. Everything worked perfect, bumps were perfect (no torn flares), suspension worked flawless, steering, everything, awesome.
I think the big winner of the day were the MTR Kevlars. I started the day off at 14 (after driving all day yesterday at 18 to soften the side wall), after getting stuck pretty good and wedged up a tree 2hrs in, went down to 8psi. After that the jeep just crawled over stuff in 4L/12:
The other jeep the same color as mine was my friends; ~3.5" lift, Aussie front. Everything else bone stock exepth the tires. And he was at the front owning us all! Goes to show experience and knowledge of land pays more than anything else.
Was too lazy to reconnect sway after I drove home 30mi disco'd and at 8psi haha, smooooooth.

Thanks guys.
No trail damage believe it or not. The other silver Jeep hooked up to passenger rear with a strap and kept it right while I winched straight forward. Was the only way I wasn't going back into the tree. Worked out nice.
Also, the friend recommended that input back on my SS. He said while I might not need it for DD, it goes a long way to soften the stress the front end goes through when your tires start to wobble or bounced side to side. I trust his expertise as he wheels with some serious people.
So I'm going to throw the SS back on before I head out wheeling again.

Little update:
Turns out there was some damage from my little weekend excursion. Completely destroyed the passenger rear backing plate. Somehow the parking brake "actuator" arm sheered into pieces and took out the rest of the parking brake assembly. I heard a funny noise that day too but took a quick look and didn't see anything of concern. Well a hundred miles later it started squealing loud and making clunking noise:
That last pic is what fell out when I took the rotor off haha. Rotor is toast too, as far as parking brake is concerned. I just put it back together minus the parking brake stuff and its fine for now, just no parking brake.

And that axle is going to be a new project, haven't decided if I'm going to do a build thread here or Pirate. Pretty excited about it!
