Project Boredom Killer 97 XJ
Like all good storys start: So no **** their I was. Out numbered a thousand to three, knee high in grenade pins. Man did we kick their ***. Or mabe I was really bored and didnt have access to any adult material. Either way. I found this forum and now a couple weeks later I have a '97 XJ. Found her on CL marked down to $1,100. Im deployed, and although a few guys from the forum offered to kick the tires for me. It was too good of a deal. So...I sent the wife! She got him down to $550! Here she is. The XJ not my wife...
97 XJ. 4x4
202k Original
Unknown Axles.
Complete fresh tune up.
Receipts worth more than I paid on new parts.
I've already started ordering bits and peices so they will be waiting for me upon re-deployment in the spring.

Granted it was basically bought sight unseen. It was snowing pretty bad so she drove it home. About ten miles in 4HI and even with bald tires she said it drove "fine". I guess she made a huge issue about it having 202k miles, the back two windows not going down and a dent on the side...either she was smart or she thinks 202k is the end of the road for an XJ. I dunno?

Update: I found out my '97 has 282k not 202k, a little too many ticks for a DD for me, although I know to many of that aint even broke in =)
So I bought this 143k mile '98 with a C8.25 off the Jackson MI CL. Paid 4x more for it but its got new 30" Duratracks. The body/undercarriage is 100% rust free with a fresh paint job and the innards are immaculate, it came with mega goodies (spare wheels, new unmounted 33's, and an uninstalled SYE) not to mention a thousand dollar "system" that was put in a week earlier. Although that will be ripped out and sold for something useful ASAP.
My thought is the 97 will be my new toy and the 98 will be my DD. So as of right now I have 2 XJ's one RC kit w/tires in the mail.
Life is good in Jeep land and bad in my savings account.
Again Im deployed so all I can do is present you with my ****ty CL pics.
