Project Blue Bean Bag XJ Build

This is what happens when your friends beat you to posting a build thread for your new rig. You get harrassed and broken in the right way.

Anyway Phil just picked up a 95 XJ with 72,00 miles on it. It has all the standard stuff like a 5-speed, etc. Has a Dana 30 up front and a Chryco 8.25 in the rear. It didn't come with any shocks so he ordered some Rusty's shocks to hold him over.

It did come with a TNT long arm lift which sits at about 6 1/2 inches and a nice ARB Bullbar style front bumper. A snazzy Warn winch and some trail lights are also mounted in the bumper.

Stay tuned for more including the wish list of parts and what else we are going to be doing to this rig. It's gonna be pretty smurfy.

We pulled the wheels off to look at the sway bars and found that the JKS sway bar links were just WAY too short. Even when we threaded it all the way out... We need a set that are about 10" long or so.

I'm going to try to fab up a set for him to get him by...

Quick Disco's

I would sell them but I think where going to cut them up and use the upper and lower thread ends, if we dont end up doing that ill let you know.

I ordered four 12" pieces of 3/4" .120 wall DOM for the new links. We'll cut them down to fit and then notch them out then weld to the JKS ends. they won't be adjustable any longer after we cut them up.

Yeah. Please keep me in mind. Reading your build thread, I'm sure you'll mod/tweak/fab/etc. them into something great, but if you happen to want to invest your creativity into another part of the project, I'll be ready to buy them off of you.

We started working on the new shocks installation last night. We got the front ones mounted up in no time. However the rear was typical for an XJ. Rather than screwing around with the loose weld nuts, we just cut a 4x6" section of the floor out for easy access to the passenger side. We'll have to do the same to the drivers side tonight so that we can get the rear shocks mounted up.

The sway bar DOM tubing is in transit to the house via 2nd day air so hopefully it will be on the door step by tomorrow mid day. Then we can fab those up and get those installed too.

We'll post some pics tonight or tomrorow of the progress.

I'll mail you my swaybars right now for your JKS' so you can destroy the OEM and keep those purdy JKS' in great shape for my rig. :icon_wink:

Too late... we already hacked them up.

installing the shocks

We installed rustys shocks last week, and had to cut out the floor boards because of two seared bolts in the rear shock mounts.
